“This incidence that has happened in the financial system; the UGX500m fake notes, the UGX62Bn, there are very many people who will run to the banks to pick their cash because of those incidences. If they pick their cash, what happens? Remember the commercial banks when they are lending to you, they use deposits, so if people have picked their cash, which means the deposits have reduced, the amounts available to the commercial banks to lend has reduced, if that amount reduces, then it comes at a high cost because there are many people demanding for it, so it will come at a relatively higher cost,” Joseph Ahaisibwe, a Senior Economist.
