Super handy “papercut fix”!
I just recorded a video the other day for my Todoist course to demonstrate this feature.
Speaking of my Todoist course…
New Todoist features come out so often that I’m re-recording the entire course from scratch to show everything that’s new!
Now, Todoist can turn photos, copy-pasted text, and files into tasks for you automatically!
With Task Capture, attach a photo, paste in text, or upload a document in "Quick Add." Todoist pulls action items for you and your teammates.
Give Task Capture a try, now in public beta!
@thsottiaux If this means you’re merging the ChatGPT and Codex apps on macOS but based on the current Codex app, I’m all for it because the Codex app is awesome.
You asked, and it’s finally here: Todoist’s Claude connector is live! ✨
Less tab-switching, copy-pasting your tasks between Todoist and @claudeai, and losing your train of thought, more actually getting things done.
Your team (and your 47 open tabs) will thank you.

I’m very excited about our vision for Quick Add 2.0, probably the most loved feature in Todoist.
What if we leaned into subtraction rather than addition? What if the system were smart enough to detect things like pasted text? What if it were truly multi-modal, working seamlessly with voice, files, and more?
I think the team is on to something. Sneak-leak (this is still WIP!)🫣
Todoist is now an approved app in Claude ✴️, so you can manage your Todoist tasks directly with Claude.
We also fixed a nasty reconnection issue. Lots more coming soon (including official ChatGPT support)!
Imagine sharing any file or image with Todoist and having tasks automatically extracted from it.
We are still cooking, but you can already try an early version on the web, iOS, and Android. Keep an eye on this space ✨
@amix3k I wonder whether, sooner or later, AI chat interfaces will become somewhat commoditized.
e.g. it won’t matter (much) whether I’ll be interacting with Todoist through Claude, ChatGPT, Siri / Apple Intelligence, etc. as long as they all have access to my full Todoist database.
First thing that comes to mind:
Meeting notes (e.g. from @meetgranola) automatically become tasks in @todoist, with the correct deadline assigned.
And dozens of other ways to remove small pieces of friction from your workflows.
Just write what you want to automate, and Todoist Automations takes care of the rest.
A small preview of how we’re turning Todoist into something that does more of the heavy lifting for you (across all of your productivity apps). It may look simple on the surface, but there’s a lot of innovation and hard tech behind it. I’m very excited about where this is going!
This would be very handy as a standalone feature in Todoist.
It’s like Ramble on steroids because it thinks with you.
Although you can already do this to some degree with all-purpose AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT (and Gemini?) with their Todoist integrations.
Gemini 3.1 Flash Live launched a few days ago, and it's a pretty incredible real-time model. We're getting very close to everyone having their own JARVIS assistant.
A small demo of a Todoist voice assistant built with the new model.
@amix3k This isn’t live yet, right?
It would feel more intuitive to be able to scan a paper document for tasks without having to first create a new task and press attachment.
@domjost@amix3k Like team workspaces? Not necessarily. Areas can be personal or for a team. Things 3 does this well.
E.g. I have areas like Admin, Business, Health, Home, Relationships, etc.
“Health” isn’t a “project” but rather an ongoing area of responsibility.
Does that make sense?
@domjost@amix3k So Todoist’s “projects” are really just lists.
I’d prefer:
Areas (of responsibility)
- are ongoing
- contain to-dos
- contain projects
Projects
- are completable
- contain to-dos
- can have a deadline
Then you could add goals, but they’d add less value once areas exist.
Can’t decide which is more exciting:
Todoist getting automations (= AI agents?) or support for tracking goals (not just tasks & projects).
Either way, I’d better plan to update my Todoist course as soon as this comes out!
I love how @todoist is reducing friction by thoughtfully adding AI-powered features.
Plus, as the AI models powering this on the back end inevitably improve, the reliability and accuracy of these features will increase almost automatically too.
We’re making it much easier to attach files in Todoist, and we’re adding AI to the experience as well. One example is Image Scan, which can analyze an image, such as handwritten notes or a whiteboard, and turn it into actionable tasks.
It’s a bit like Ramble, but for images. We’ll have something similar for text, too! Leak time 😄
