@FWAGeast@herdyshepherd1 Most of the time this fee will include completing annual claim for 5 years etc. as I say I’m not defending high fees, they have to be affordable, but don’t underestimate the time and skill involved to complete. You will see ROI if done properly.
@FWAGeast@herdyshepherd1 There is a lot of work that goes into pulling these schemes together. A lot of stakeholders for larger HT schemes and lots of consultation with groups. I think it’s unwise to take this bill figure as the norm. All the schemes I have completed cost far less than that.
@ruslandvalley Thanks for sharing Andrea. It’s fascinating to see people’s thought process with these schemes. I think people overlook the main ‘earner’ of their business, the final product. I think we as an industry need to add value to whatever the final product is that leaves the farm
@FWAGeast@herdyshepherd1 Yes, they are great advisers. As are the CSF officers I’ve dealt with. My only comment on these bills is usually, they are related to scheme income. If you spend the money on an experienced agent who will max your farm out on suitable, profitable schemes, money well spent??
@hairyhillfarmer @herdyshepherd1 Hi, yes I do know plenty. Normally from initial contact with your chosen company, for them to produce a farm business appraisal/or a sit down face to face meeting will take less than 4 weeks. Because it is led by consultants agents, they aren’t restricted by DEFRA approvals etc.
@JoeWStanley@herdyshepherd1 Agreed Joe, but in terms of having valuable face to face comms and explanation of schemes, fully worth it. At least you start to make a plan, cost out expenditure vs income and work with the funding available. Also, taking adv of £1k management payment with SFI.
@herdyshepherd1 If in doubt pick up the phone! The land agent/surveyor community exists to support farmers. Most will hold no obligation intro chats to aid and guide farmers through this period. If you still don’t want to do that, there is so much content in FWI etc that explains it clearly.
@herdyshepherd1 James, I agree with your comments. I have to say I don’t think there is an excuse now for not being able to access advice and help. DEFRA are offering free business advice to farmers, specially looking at how to maximise schemes on their farms. https://t.co/4zr5HIbkHH
