Our refuse crews have done a sterling job in the extreme heat this week – alongside thousands of other people in many sectors who have carried on working to keep our city running smoothly and to support residents. Thank you to each and every one of you.
The conditions have meant that crews were not able to reach every home on today's rounds. If your bin was missed, please leave it out for collection and our crews will do their best to get to you tomorrow.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, and also to our refuse staff who have agreed to work overtime tomorrow to reach those in Newborough and Stanground that they could not get to today.

A sunny day in the park can quickly be spoilt by what gets left behind.
Before you head home, take a quick look around your spot. Crisp packets, plastic cups, squashed grapes. Bag it all up and take it with you. Or use a bin on your way out.
Wherever you are, rubbish left behind means someone else's afternoon gets spoiled. 🌳☀️
Councillors on our Children’s and Young People Scrutiny Committee will hear about proposals for a new purpose-built £13 million Youth Zone for the city at a meeting on Monday.
They'll be asked to recommend that Cabinet, at its meeting on 21 July, approves spending £410,000 to enable national youth charity, OnSide Youth Zones, to work with us to progress detailed designs for a new dedicated youth to facility for young people.
A Youth Zone would provide safe places to socialise, play sports, learn skills, get support, and take part in activities outside school hours.
OnSide already has a national network of 15 Youth zone across the country and a further eight are currently being developed.

Do dads need to talk about their feelings? Yes, they do. Jamie at @boxing_futures tells us more.
Too many myths about dads still exist – and it’s time to change that. That’s why Peterborough Family Hubs created The Dad Pledge.
Designed by dads, for dads, it sets out what fathers really need from employers and organisations.

Friends Stacey and Sharon met in a foster carer support group ten years ago. They’ve supported each other, their families and the children they foster through thick and thin.
Foster carers come from all walks of everyday life. Sharon was running play events in nurseries before she started fostering. Stacey was working in the leisure industry and her partner suggested that fostering might work better for them after they had their little girl.
They find fostering both challenging and incredibly rewarding. They’ve also found a strong friendship neither of them expected.
If you’ve been thinking about fostering, now’s the perfect time to find out more. 💙
