A family is saying goodbye to their father, who was killed by russians.

When I watch this video, I feel an overwhelming sense of pain and injustice. And a deep call for justice. Russia must pay.

The pain russians have inflicted on Ukrainians will be felt for generations. The evil they have unleashed will never be forgotten.

The lives they have taken cannot be returned. The families they have destroyed cannot simply be made whole again.

But the crimes they have committed must not go unpunished.

There must be justice.

Russia is afraid of Ukrainian books. It has good reason to be.

Every one of them carries what Moscow has spent centuries trying to erase: our language, memory, history, and the simple fact that Ukraine is Ukraine.

Once, the Russian empire banned Ukrainian books. Today, Russian drones burn warehouses filled with them. Different weapons, same obsession.

And the same failure.

Ukrainian books will be printed and read. Ukrainian culture will travel further. Ukraine will remain Ukraine.

Our task with partners is also clear: protect what Russia seeks to destroy and reduce its ability to destroy it. Ukraine needs more air defence, while Russia’s war machine needs fewer resources and fewer opportunities to produce weapons.

Friends, these are especially difficult times for Ukrainian businesses.

Today, for example, several Ukrainian publishers and bookstore chains announced that their warehouses had been destroyed by missile strikes from fascist Russia. Unfortunately, among them was my favorite bookstore-cafe in Kyiv, ReadEat.

The guys there asked readers on social media today to support them and help their business survive this. So I made a point of coming to their store on Antonovycha Street today, and despite everything, they are still here: a place where you can buy a wonderful Ukrainian book or a vinyl record, and enjoy coffee and desserts in a cozy atmosphere to the sound of a piano.

So if you’re in Ukraine, I encourage you to support any Ukrainian bookstore or publisher you can, and help this wonderful culture of bookstore cafes survive, we are so proud of in Kyiv and across our country.

And you see how quickly our world can be taken from us if we fall asleep. And so we have to see the cues.

We have to see the cues, this dictatorship of the monsters. How quickly it happens. We have to be vigilant.

We can't sit back and go, "Ah, life is good, I'm fine. You know, I've got food, I've got money, blah blah, I've got my house, I've got another car, I'm thinking about this, blah blah, I'm okay. I know he's a bad guy, but it's okay."
