@TnlucasLucas@dom_lucre You are simply wrong. Read the Moral Arc or Steven pinker. Rates of rape, murder, child abuse etc have been on long sustained decline. Just because you see it more often on media simply triggers a heursisticβ¦.feelings arenβt facts. This puritanical, pearl clutching.
Controversial take that honestly really shouldn't be. But want to put on the table a topic that has been happening in many private conversations.
Solana is going to have and needs to have L2s and/or rollups.
I don't think these will manifest exactly like the Ethereum ecosystem, but there will always be app builders at scale that want more TPS, less competition for blockspace, lower fees, and that want to own more of the aggregate economics that their business generates.
It is insane that DRiP paid $10,000 in on-chain fees last week plus a plethora of other costs at the RPC level and in our cloud, not to mention the time rewriting our backend.
This is not a complaint, just an incentive-alignment problem that I'm not sure how to address at the base layer: The very apps that bring traffic and customers to the chain are rewarded with increased infra cost when the token appreciates in value, in part due to their efforts.
I think many app builders will be happy to make calculated decentralization tradeoffs to have favorable economics and TPS. And for users that want it, being able to pay extra to optionally secure their assets at the base layer makes tons of sense.
Please, read this is not as a criticism of our beloved chain. Simply as thinking about what needs to happen over the next few years to continue winning, from an app builder who is quite literally all in on Solana.
