While President #Tshisekedi @fatshi13 prepares to sign the Washington agreement on December 4, his actions on the ground show the opposite of commitment to peace. Instead of working to stabilize the region, his regime continues to arm, coordinate, and politically shield multiple militias — including Mai‑Mai groups currently mobilizing across Lulenge, Nganjya, Ubwari, Kirembwe, Baraka, and the Ruzizi Plain.

These militias are not bringing peace; they are fueling violence, targeting civilians, and actively threatening Congolese Tutsi communities in Minembwe, Kamanyola, Bukavu, and beyond. A government that supports armed groups tasked with “finishing off the Banyamulenge” cannot claim to be pursuing stability.

Signing an agreement in Washington means nothing if, back home, Tshisekedi continues to sponsor militias that kill innocent people and escalate instability in the Great Lakes region. True commitment to peace requires dismantling these alliances — not empowering them
