@Peston Whilst their intentions were well meant (ie to draw attention to the urgency of climate action), their actions were foolish, dangerous and costly and they needed to be punished heavily in my view, so I don’t think the sentences are at all unreasonable.

@OurTownTrust But, why have the field margins all been topped in advance of the main cut? These surely provide shelter for small mammals and insects once the hay has been taken from the field? It’s hard to understand the logic behind the biodiversity management of this valuable habitat.

Good luck to @WildlifeTrusts! They’re heading to Downing Street today with a letter asking the Prime Minister to Stop and Rethink #HS2. I proudly signed that letter, along with almost 70,000 other people who don't want nature to pay the price for HS2 🌳 🦋 🦉
