@GavinBrx@lesstenny Definitely, the Federal government already has quite a range of policies to reduce regulation happening right how. Regulations apply at State and local Govt too. It’s not as if there is any one strategy but getting investor of the market is part of it.
@GavinBrx@lesstenny It’s hard to see how housing can be more affordable if prices don’t drop. Personally I have no problem with domestic reduction in the value of my home if my rates and insurance premiums also drop. How else is housing going to be more affordable for new home buyers?
@TonyMoo58976450@redmist68@captain_stavros FYI all pollies including Hanson get the parliamentary super scheme and no one escapes the tax on super over a balance of $3m.Your post is misleading post is as fake as a $3 bill.
@BatmansBedroom@MyFirstCousin That 30% can now see what they get from ON. No paid paternity leave, destruction of the fairness provisions for workers, deskill childcare staff, destruction of the PBS. See how that plays. Incessant abuse from ON trolls and violence from the far right are par for the course .
@lesstenny The problem with El Niño events is that the frequency is increasing. Now every 4 years on Average rather than the previous 5 years . Could be something to do with climate change ⁉️
@AmeliaBee7 I think
You can blame conservative governments for most of the structural advantages enjoyed by well off older people. But which group of Australian homeless people represents more than 50% of all homeless? Older women over 55. So much for lucky boomers.
Fun fact: Australia isn’t the only developed country without nuclear power. Countries such as New Zealand, Ireland and Denmark also operate without nuclear reactors.
And despite the constant scare campaigns, Australia does not have the highest electricity prices in the world. Many countries with large nuclear fleets, including the UK, Germany and Belgium, have often paid higher household electricity prices than Australians.
According to international comparisons, Australia generally sits around the middle-to-upper range of OECD countries for household electricity prices — nowhere near the most expensive.
Having nuclear power does not automatically mean cheap power. France has 50+ reactors and still experienced major electricity price spikes. Nuclear plants take 15-20 years to build and cost tens of billions of dollars before producing a single watt of electricity.
The real debate isn’t “nuclear versus renewables”. It’s how Australia delivers reliable, affordable energy at the lowest cost.
Claiming Australia has the world’s highest power prices because we don’t have nuclear power is simply false.
@PaulineHansonOz As renewables provide the cheapest energy it’s in Australia’s interest to buy. China leads the world in renewable technologies and is very rapidly reducing its own reliance on coal. Ps solar panels and sheep can share the same paddock.
@cerecdoc@NannanBay Income splitting on the median income of $90500 pa gives you $9000 pa saving, far below what an average couple needs to bring up kids that’s why both parents usually have to work. Paid paternity leave is $5000 better in the first year + no one is dependent on the other person.
@cerecdoc@NannanBay Doing the sums on income splitting ( saves $9200 in tax) vs paid Mat leave of 26 weeks at the govt rate, for the median income of $90500, a woman would be $14400 worse off. ON want to abolish the Family Court as well. Hard to vote for that as a female.
@cerecdoc@NannanBay You missed the fundamental point about forcing women to be economically dependent on men. The ON approach takes us back to the 1950s and I don’t think that’s going to work well for them now that Hanson’s ideas are more than just a “vibe” but have some actual content.
@CI5Y8miv7XpEaXq@Inny2222@SenatorCrossing Sorry to be the one to tell you but the USA is now the most hated country the world due to your leader. Your foreign policy has driven away all your allies. The rest of the world is busily working out how to do without the USA.
@cerecdoc@NannanBay In other words she wants to make women financially dependent on men if they want a family. The average working woman cannot afford to have a family without paid paternity leave either .
@xdotxxdotx@SistaRuthDOPD The basic proposition is that women become economically dependent on their male partners. Can’t see that flying in the 21st century.
