"The path from St Columb Minor skirts the valley side, only passes through fields on the way to Porth. Bill Pierce crosses the river, and makes the high cliff climb in his loose hand-me-down hobnailed boots. March has tipped over into a thunderous spring, too wet to drag a plough. Mr Copeland Borlase opens the barrows on the cliff today and they will pay for a day’s labour. There could be treasure found."
New writing from Peter Grey on the Cornish barrows and their sleeping kings.

We’re delighted to welcome Rigdzin Dorje (Will Jackson) to Scarlet Imprint. Dorje is currently preparing his first book with us, Pretakalpa, on working with hungry ghosts.
Rigdzin Dorje (Will Jackson), whose Buddhist roots are in the Mahāyāna, has spent the last 20 years of his life practicing its Tantric form, Vajrayāna. During this experimental phase Dorje received initiations by illustrious teachers such as Dungse Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche (Nyingma) and His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama (Gelug), and personal instruction and/or initiations from teachers such as Lama Jampa Thaye (Sakya), Lama Kunga Thartse Rinpoche (Sakya), Namkai Norbu Rinpoche (Dzogchen), Dr Nida Chetnatsang (Yuthok Nyingthik), and Khandro Kunzang (Nyingma, Nagkpa lineage), amongst others. In 2010 he formally met Khenpo Sonam (Nyingma, Longchen Nyingthik lineage) who initiated him into the Guhyagarbha Tantra as part of a four year course of study which was accompanied by Longchenpa’s commentary on the tantra. After Tantric graduation he studied two of Longchenpa’s Precious Treasury texts – ‘A Treasure Trove of Scriptural Transmission’ (2 years) and ‘A Precious Treasury of a Way of Abiding’ (1 year). Within and surrounding these teachings by Khenpo were retreats both in Dzogchen and for Ngakpas.
Rigdzin Dorje is also educated in written and spoken Sanskrit, taught by Doctors Antonia Ruppel and Varun Khanna of the Yogic Studies Institute. In 2026 Dorje received his diploma in Buddhist Philosophy and Psychology through an online study course with the Ven. Geshe Dorji Damdul (Director of Tibet House, Dharamsala). Dorje has also studied Hoodoo Rootwork, which he learned from Momma Starr Casas (Southern Conjure, family lineage). He has completed adventure-pilgrimages to holy places in India, Nepal, and Japan and back again (even getting stranded in Nepal during their 2025 revolution). In Thailand Dorje explored both their Buddhist orthodox and occult culture.
Will Jackson (Rigdzin Dorje) has an educational background in Ayurvedic Medicine (California College of Ayurveda), Yoga and Ayurveda (Dancing Shiva), and currently works in the homeless sector in Los Angeles, having been a grass-roots organizer around homelessness issues (Ktown for All), a public servant (Chair of Homelessness Committee, Wilshire-Center Korea town Neighborhood Council), and served as a frontline lead outreach worker, housing navigator, and omni-man for Housing Works CA. Will currently works in the Homeless sector as an independent contractor consulting on film projects pertaining to homelessness and with entities such as USC as a co-chair in HPRI, or on County-wide initiatives such as the HDAP ‘Place-based Permanent Supportive Housing (PB-PSH) Best Practices Initiative.’ Applying his Ayurvedic education, Will Jackson is the founder and owner of the herbal ghee company Medighee.

Lovely to see Paul Holman's Sussex Coils and Loops nestled amongst the books at @watkinsbooks
We will be at Watkins with Paul for a reading / book launch on 6th August, hope to see some of you there!
Every Taurus season I find myself returning to the Mithraic Mysteries, whose central image is the slaying of the cosmic bull. Over the years, I’ve visited Mithraeums abroad and shared various reflections on the cult of Mithras, making it a recurring thread in my studies.
For that reason, “Ritual & Epiphany in the Mysteries of Mithras” by @petermarkadams has felt like a natural companion to my ongoing research. It was published last year by @theion_p.
From the book, “Mithras is easily identifiable by his domination of both the scene and the bull and by his ubiquitous ‘Phrygian Cap’ and flowing cape. He is depicted kneeling on the back of a bull, pulling its head back and trapping one of its hooves under his other foot whilst stabbing it in the neck. Significantly, he is depicted looking away from his deed; even as the various animals around the bull appear to be drawn towards the blood flowing from the open stab wound in the bull's neck. Although this image is routinely referred to as the tauroctony, or 'bull killing' scene, as we will see, it is by no means clear that that is the only way of reading it.”
Shoutout to my friend Steve B. for the book!
Arabic has 14 words for love. Each one describes a different stage. And here's what got me. Each one comes from a root that has nothing to do with love. Until you see the connection. And then you can't unsee it.
All 14. Let me walk you through them.

A review of Paul Holman’s Sussex Coils and Loops by writer, artist and magician Locke Fitzroy.
“In Sussex Coils and Loops, Paul Holman approaches the occult, the divine and the mythological without prejudice, lovingly poring over ancient records and Wikipedia page edit-histories, and achieving a rare and beautiful work in the process. Sussex Coils and Loops is part fairytale, part ritual manual and part academic untangling of misquoted texts of yore. A significantly more grounded cousin to near-hallucinatory psychogeographical books such as Andy Sharp's English Heretic Collection, it is every bit as compelling. Focusing on the current of serpentine energy that has been running through the collective subconscious of Sussex inhabitants for centuries, surfacing in countryside tales, Christian lore and artworks – but also in tree roots and dirt-bike tracks, for all with eyes to see – Sussex Coils and Loops winds its way across the centuries, effortlessly weaving together the long-gone and the strikingly recent.”

“His creativity and interpretation is genuinely catholic, engaged and highly readable. This is a 21st century explorer divining his own histories, creating his own shrines from a tesserae of obscure facts and unlikely material, and placing them in appropriate points of power, even as he questions himself and established texts and interpretations." – from Rupert Loydell's review of Sussex Coils and Loops for Litter Magazine

Saturn returns with a limited second hardback edition of @petermarkadams acclaimed The Game of Saturn: Decoding the Sola-Busca Tarocchi.
In the nine years since the work was published, Adams’s reputation as a researcher and writer has steadily and deservedly grown among both practitioners and academics, and his books are to be found in major libraries and institutions, as well as the personal libraries of contemporary esotericists. His independent discovery of the existence, and rites of an elite predatory cult seems more relevant than ever. The Game of Saturn continues to be played.
The Game of Saturn redefines tarot history and our understanding of the Renaissance with a compelling narrative told through the most unusual and esoteric of decks. Its striking imagery moves from the obscure to the grotesque with scenes of wounding, homoeroticism, immolation and decapitation. These are rites in service of the gnostic demiurge in its most archaic and violent form: the Afro-Levantine serpent-dragon, Ba’al Hammon, also known as Kronos and Saturn, and the biblical Moloch, the devourer of children.
Limited to 500 copies, the hardback edition is bound in sable cloth, stamped in gold on the spine and front, with an onlay of trump XIII Catone, crimson endpapers and a ribbon marker.
Pre-order now, the books will ship mid to late June:

“In older speech one would say: the world lives in daemons. Not that the world happens to contain daemons in addition to matter, but that whatever appears at all is already a physiognomy of soul. The outward form is the way an inner intensity leans into disclo-sure. “The soul is the meaning of the body; the body is the manifestation of the soul. Space is the body of time; time is the soul of space.” Every configuration, every event, is such a pair: a figure and an invisible inwardness expressed as it.
In this vision there is no appearance that is not daemonic: the phenomenal All-the incessant presencing and withdrawing of daemons.”

@theionpublishing
This is such a beautiful book, both the book itself and the brilliant prose and evocatively magical content within. From the first sentences I was integrated into it. The Black Pilgrimage when reading it, helps one remember something most already know. That we are not separate from the world but intimately entwined within the magic of the embodied experience.
David Beth of @theionpublishing is coming on Magus in the Media for a lovely conversation about how his newly published book. I can definitely feel we will go deeply into that and so much more. So make sure to pick up this magical text and keep a look out for our Conversation/Interview. It will be happening soon.
