@tony_eh@Liam120207 Liam is a man. It’s proven that domestic abuse increases when there is a man in the house. You are a man too. So I may as well smear you as being a man is part of what makes you a prick. And me. In fact I’d say 90% of my prickness is through being a man rather than a fan.
@tony_eh@Liam120207 A huge number of people who drink alcohol are pricks that’s clearly evidenced by abuse increasing when people drink. You’re going to tell me you don’t drink. Do you have friends/family that drink? God forbid that like football?
@tony_eh@Liam120207 He called you a nonce, but you replied with condescending comments about people who like football in general - as though it axiomatically is part of his being a prick. Thats a massive disconnect. Football fans will see that and disengage, even if they agree with your point.
@tony_eh@Liam120207 Ah yes. So equally ignorant then. Youre doing what we hate people doing (“they all go through red lights),ie dissing a whole social based on individuals’ behaviour. He called Liam a nonce because HE is a prick. Not because he, like me and millions of cyclists, likes football.
@Adespoto3@EricEatsPickles Ah, the way it was presented I thought he was talking about reactions to the tragic incident itself in the first screenshot, rather than to those on Mikey’s observations.
@MacLeftie@Dutchie101995@Bikery1966 Why do you call it Wendyball? There are 12 anti-cycling responses here. Only 2 mention football in the profiles.I’ve pointed this out to @bikery before (6 out of 38 in previous comment) but he didn’t respond. Please don’t “other” millions of people based on the actions of a few.
@Bikery1966@2wheelsgoodBrum@Bikery1966 Did you see my feedback on your recent football fan comment? 32 of people critical of your comments did NOT mention football in their profiles. Six did. I fear confirmation bias. And a bit of an obsession.
@KeithHavers@Bikery1966@2wheelsgoodBrum A lot of men are fine. My brother is one. But the knuckle-dragging ball swingers don’t do the male image any favours.
@Bikery1966 Apologies if that was not a typical post but I went for one with plenty of replies to give us a decent stats base. If there is a post with more football based vitriol let me know. Cheers
@Bikery1966 You may be surprised that only 6 were obvious football fans and 32 made no mention in their profile. (Of course that doesn’t mean they are not fans but we can’t know). Actually one followed Leeds rugby. And as it was working class League and not Union maybe he should count?
@Bikery1966 Now this is a bit sad, but rather than just claiming things to confirm my bias (we all do it) I looked at one of your recent tweets. This one. I looked at the profile of everyone who was anti your view. Continued …
@Bikery1966 I was pondering your claim about football fans. Firstly it has to be weighted in that decent, respectful people (football fans and not) have left X in disgust and left a high proportion of horrible racist, homophobic etc thugs. So it’s going to be skewed that way anyway, yes?
@Bikery1966 Sorry for the delay. Did a lovely climb on the Ruta del Rio del Miel (river of honey) yesterday, and of course missed the first 20 mins of the match. My team were crap and lost. I resisted the temptation to smash windows and abuse old women, and read “A Rose for Winter” instead.
@Bikery1966 I’ll have to reply later. I’m on a cycling holiday in Spain with some Guardian reading friends. We need to get back for the match at 3pm, None of the others are on X, so you wouldn’t know them .
