@TheM_L_G Rejoice, A Knife To The Heart, by Steven Erikson. Sort of a meta SF story that's also a good one in and of itself, with some of Erikson's Malazan-esque philosophizing but not over the top, and for me at least engaging (and well-narrated on Audible).
@MarketUrbanism @nycplayed @jbouie I grew up in NYC outer boroughs and live here still, and one thing with all the older buildings is they have a saw tooth design (not sure the proper term) to increase the exterior walls, which limits lot utilization, but the wouldn't that design tradeoff be worth it?
@david_sivella@luisferre Should a duly elected representative be able to vote in her assigned committee within the body she was elected to is your question?
@WindyCOYS If Sporting were sounding out Brighton over Lamptey, seems like that would be a good one to check in on, though I'd also think Conte would probably say no to someone that size out of hand, unfortunately.
@GraceOnFootball I wonder how much of this is systemic and how much is getting a couple of chances coinciding with Tunisia figuring how to adjust to that new shape. Does the value come from a back 4, or (more likely to me) from a system shift?
@ShaunnahBlaney@Lilywhite_Rose That's a lot of trust in the club (and football clubs, generally) when I wouldn't say they've earned it, especially in concussion-handling
@CheeseRoomHG @MC_of_A Problem is, will he actually play? Or does he provide theoretical cover that would never actually get used? If him staying just means he plays in an absolute emergency but wouldn't rotate in and Son/Richarlison/Deki just play all the minutes, there's no point to keeping him to me
@MaryDil29664033 @DataProgress@chrislhayes It was still a bad decision that put a seat into play that should have had a safe incumbent, not a special and a quasi-incumbent
@SentientPotato6 @gelliottmorris That's what I would think generally, yes, unless you have a strong theory, which I haven't seen yet, that someone like Newsom would run against a Biden seeking reelection, in which case you'd want to make Q1 a horserace with the likely candidates in that scenario
@SentientPotato6 @gelliottmorris If Biden is in the field, almost nobody listed there is challenging him, certainly nobody in his cabinet or his own VP. And there are others who are pretty clear certainties not to run (AOC, Warren, Clinton), so this poll doesn't measure any reality.
@johnnykempo@JoeBorelliNYC It's a prisoners dilemma, setting an example and essentially laying down and hoping an untrustworthy opponent will do the same is just lunacy. Everywhere needs to set that example simultaneously, since there's no trust.
@johnnykempo@JoeBorelliNYC Democrats have made their desire clear, but unilateral disarmament will only mean giving up and getting further and further from an eventual goal of fair representation.
