The Metropolitan Police have some serious questions to answer.

Why on earth did they decide it was appropriate to launch a four-month investigation into Times Higher Education journalist Jack Grove after he emailed Professor Jason Arday a series of legitimate questions about his academic record?

Surely they should be spending their limited resources on investigating real crimes?

And in what world did the Met police officer who informed Grove that no further action would be taken think it appropriate to tell him to refrain from contacting Professor Arday again because it might be detrimental to his “mental health”?

Professor Jason Arday tried to use the police as a tool to silence a journalist who was simply doing his job. On top of that, he called Carter-Ruck — a notoriously aggressive law firm — which suggested that Grove’s investigation could have a racial dimension.

Powerful people should not be allowed to use the police to shield themselves from legitimate scrutiny.

The Free Speech Union’s General Secretary, Lord Young of Acton, has written to the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police demanding an explanation.

Ofcom has launched an investigation into GB News after a Catholic commentator said during a discussion that London’s Pride parade celebrates ‘bizarre and unhealthy kinks’.

The media watchdog is now reviewing Caroline Farrow’s comments for potential breaches of broadcasting standards.

During a discussion about London’s Pride parade on an episode of Alex Armstrong Tonight last month, Ms Farrow claimed the event was “not about gay rights” but had instead “become about celebrating every single sexuality that isn’t heterosexuality”.

Ms Farrow said this included “very bizarre and unhealthy kinks and quirks, you know, like furries and bestiality and even minor-attracted, they call themselves minor-attracted people, you know, paedophiles”.

The backlash to Ms Farrow’s comments has been spearheaded by the Good Law Project — the campaign group founded by activist lawyer Jolyon Maugham.

Matthew Gill, a lawyer for the Good Law Project, described the comments as a “hateful trope”.

Ofcom’s rules state that material that may cause offence must be justified by context, adding that appropriate information should also be broadcast where it would help to avoid or minimise offence.

I already exposed Miatta Fahnbulleh two days ago for sending her three kids to private school while voting for this tax, but she is far from the only hypocrite in Westminster!

Why do you think socialists are always so eager to destroy educational choice for everyday families while quietly buying the exact same privileges for their own children?

All this tax actually achieved was flooding local state schools with thousands of extra pupils, driving up class sizes for everyone else while wealthy Labour MPs pay the extra fees without blinking.

It is pure hypocrisy. They want state control for your children, but private education for theirs.

The Afghan data leak came from the Ministry of Defence. I have never worked at the Ministry of Defence.

The Secretary of State responsible at the time of the leak was Ben Wallace. It was a catastrophic failure by the MOD which put innocent lives at risk and undermined our national security.

And while we’re at it, the Afghan resettlement schemes (appalling policies) were introduced before I was Home Secretary. Sadly I had no power to close them down much as I wanted to. That decision lay with the various Tory Prime Ministers and of course Ben Wallace who was evangelical about bringing thousands of Afghans to the UK.

Yep- I was a Minister in that government but you would have to ask Ben Wallace and other Conservative MPs about what happened, why it happened and who was held to account.
