@reasoned_islam@CanyonMimbs One of the things that has surprised me the most about the differences between Christianity and Islam is the way it views marriage
(Number of wives, divorce, and more)
How do you think Muslims seem to view Christian marriage?
@Baginssis@IjazTheTrini You started with a false premise "if Jesus came to preach trinity"
Jesus revealed God, not by teaching but by showing. That's why he came, why he died, and why he rose again.
@ScottyPufc@CharleyWhiskers@TheNorfolkLion There's a point to be made here about all the "walk on this side" separation rules that were introduced during covid.
Those who are elderly or infirm may easily have one arm which is stronger or better able to hold the handrail than the other.
@slv_of_Allah@reasoned_islam You've posted some assertions there, I don't think they align with what the Quran says though.
For example, Quran 7:157 says that the Torah and the Gospel (at that time) speak about Muhammed.
If the books didn't exist then this could not be so.
@slv_of_Allah@reasoned_islam The Quran appears to describe the Torah and the Gospel as contemporary texts readily available to those who now have the Quran in the 7th Century - would you agree?
@slv_of_Allah@reasoned_islam I've seen a variety of attempted solutions:
"It was a different Torah and Gospel"
"It is a general confirmation"
"The Torah and the gospel were corrupted"
"There is no such thing" is a new one though
@whymeldn I made a graph of how long they've lasted since 1900, and now I feel like it was Thatcher and Blair which were the anomaly. The red line is 4 years
@GuntarioDotCom@farmingandJesus I see the question and the way it messes with our minds as proof that our comprehension of God's infinite nature and plan is utterly beyond our reasoning.
I'm very thankful that it's Jesus' death which saves us, not our obedience, doctrine, intellect, or comprehension
@GuntarioDotCom@farmingandJesus Crikey, what I posted was supposed to be a light-hearted joke.
I experience free will - I think we all do. I chose to follow Jesus many years ago, but I also think he caused me to follow. Ultimately, God's understanding of time and space, will and destiny is far beyond ours.
@TaqiyyaTaqwa@Leonardaisfunny@RupertLowe10 As a nation we've painted ourselves into a corner. Some want us to be unconstitutionally welcoming to everyone without limit (often those who are minimally affected or who benefit) and others who feel betrayed by national institutions.
@TaqiyyaTaqwa@Leonardaisfunny@RupertLowe10 It's the gradual managed decline of an empire which should never have existed struggling to hold itself together without any idea of its identity or purpose.
@TaqiyyaTaqwa@Leonardaisfunny@RupertLowe10 We have local elections (voting for the people who will organise bin collections) where a candidate's stance on Gaza is scrutinised above anything else, and racists who never go to church demanding the country be more Christian.
@GabrielSaidR@shahanSean Beautiful buildings are more expensive, especially now that labourers and craftsmen get paid well, workers rights, and safer working environments
@TaqiyyaTaqwa@Leonardaisfunny@RupertLowe10 It feels very high, but part of the problem we have is that there was institutional failure to record data due to a fear of being perceived as racist.
Now the lack of data is being used by one side to show there's no issue, and by the other to argue there's a massive issue.
