I was pleased to catch up with @PeteViol yesterday in #Fergus to formally congratulate him on his ‘Canoe for Cardiac Care’ trip in the late summer. Paddling 750 kms from #PortSevern to #Ottawa he raised over $25,500 for cardiac patient care equipment at @smghfoundation.
@LFairclo@StMarysGenHosp @SMGHF It's been an honor and a privilege to work on these campaigns for St Mary's over the past 5 years. Promoting awareness of women's heart/health issues and raising funds for the Cardiac Centre is an ongoing process. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to do my part.

In the 5 years of raising funds for @smghf, I've learned a few things about cardiac disease.Women's heart disease often goes undiagnosed. Symptoms can be different from those of men. It's the #1 cause of death for women in Canada. Talk to your doctor about your risks. Stay well.
Congratulations @sgt_pete_viol on your successful #canoe4cardiac journey. Over $25,500 raised to date for cardiac patient care equipment at @smghfoundation . Gifts can still be made at https://t.co/fc2EjQ8oNg

Because of current and expected wind conditions now and over the next few days on Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario, I will be bypassing this section of my route. I'll be on the Rideau Canal Thursday morning. #safetyfirst#canoe4cardiac @smghf
