One of the best things about going to church in your own car as an adult is that you can leave immediately after Mass/Service. I know what my eyes saw as a child after every service, my parents were in different church groups so they had to attend a lot of meetings. Sometimes we’ll sit in the car for hours waiting for them. It used to annoy me so much. I don’t know if anyone can relate to this.😅
Open Apology Letter to the Obidient Movement
My Dear Obidient Family, I come before you today with a heavy heart, deep humility, and no excuses. Some time ago, in a moment of frustration and immaturity, I wrote and released a resignation letter as Director of Mobilization. In that letter, I allowed deep frustration & personal emotions to cloud my judgment. I made statements that subtly and unnecessarily dragged Peter Obi, a man I still respect for his vision, integrity, and sacrifice for this nation. That was wrong. It was childish, and beneath the standard I should have upheld, especially as someone who once held a leadership position in this movement.
I take full responsibility. No one forced me to write it. No one edited it. It came from me, and it was a mistake. I deleted the letter afterwards, but I know deletion does not erase the damage, the disappointment, or the loss of trust many of you felt. I understand why some of you no longer respect me the way you once did. You had every right to feel let down.
To Peter Obi himself (fondly called PO): Sir, I am sincerely sorry. My words were not a true reflection of the values of sacrifice, accountability, and constructive criticism that you preach. I failed in that moment. To every single Obidient, the ones who stayed grinding, the ones who defended the vision even when it was tough, the ones who felt betrayed by my actions, I am deeply sorry. You are the real heroes of this movement. Many of you are young people full of hope and fire for a better Nigeria. You didn’t deserve to see internal cracks turned into public drama. I let you down.
I am not writing this because I want something or a position in the movement as I’m enjoying private life. I am writing it because it is the right thing to do. Leadership is not only about when the road is sweet and smooth; it is also about owning up when you mess up. I own this fully. I am committed to rebuilding trust through consistent actions, not just words. But I also know trust is not demanded, it is earned back slowly, if at all. Thank you for reading this.
Whether you accept my apology or not, I respect your feelings and your right to hold me accountable. The love I have for a better Nigeria has not changed. You all know me. My respect for the Obidient spirit remains. I am sorry truly.
With humility and hope for forgiveness,
Your brother in this struggle,
Morris Monye.
Oya come let’s hug. 😊
Young people, before you build wealth, you have to first build your comfort. Personal comfort is the fertilizer that helps you grow through clear thinking and peace of mind.
You are buying stocks at the risk of going hungry. Why not eat first? Satisfy your moderate/reasonable cravings, reward yourself. This is how you find the strength to keep pushing.
You are saving, yet the room that you take your rests in everyday is in poor condition. No proper bed. You refused to get an Air Conditioner. Your bedsheet has not been changed in years, your pillow is so worn out and dirty that it could wake the dead if placed under their head. Your underwears (boxers and bra) have not been changed for years. You don’t invest in smelling nice. Why can’t you take care of yourself first?
You are saving when you can afford to rent apartment in a better, more peaceful and serene environment. Yet you remain in an environment filled with unbearable stench and with high security risk. Overtime, that stench becomes your natural ooze, and the insecurity would consume a chunk of that money you saved when they steal your generator or rob you. Your standards will drop without you realizing it. You would have grown so accustomed to that slum you’ve decided to root yourself in that the low standard of living and discomfort becomes normal to you. Eventually, you start to reflect that environment in your behavior and lifestyle; your behavior becomes unrefined and local. The stench becomes ‘clean air’ to you. You lose your sense of smell, that you can’t tell when your armpit is smelling anymore.
You are saving, you’ve saved enough to buy a car to push around, yet you prefer to mount Okada and public transport. Depriving yourself of the barest minimum utility that could greatly improve your efficiency, time saving and quality of life, because you are saving. One day, you will fall on the okada or you’ll have a fight with a conductor and they’ll remove your teeth.
You are saving, but you won’t provide better nutrition for your children even when you can afford it. You forget that proper feeding today prevents bigger health expenses tomorrow. What you avoid now, you may end up paying for later in treatments.
Saving is important, but it is not wisdom to ignore immediate needs. There is no virtue in suffering when you have the means to live better.
In all things, wisdom is key. Do not deprive yourself, and do not live beyond your capacity. Find balance.
