As schools open this fall:
🔘Some kids will be socially overstimulated
🔘Some kids will struggle w/ increased academic demands
🔘Many kids will need to adjust sleep patterns
We *must* begin to focus on #adultSEL & #selfcare now so that we are able to support every student child
Knowing how to talk to kids about #coronavirus is less important than knowing how to LISTEN to kids about #coronavirus
Ask questions, reflect what you hear & provide reassurance as you try to understand what they are thinking and feeling. Listen first, then share #PlanB#Empathy
Growing up in Reading, PA wasn't easy for @lonniewalker_4. Now, he's dedicated to giving back to the city that made him. This is his Spurs Story.

Reading to children is so critical in a child’s language development. Thank you mom for reading to me as a child and taking the afternoon to read to GES students. #luckyKindergarteners
There is no such thing as a “behavior problem.” Behaviors are solutions to problems. Focus on making each student feel these things & they will no longer misbehave.
1. Attention.
2. Power.
3. Control.
4. Competence.
5. Belonging.

That #student you see every morning in the hall who you say ‘good morning’ to but yet never looks up or responds.
Keep trying... you may never get a response, but they know you notice them & that reassurance at the start of their day can be #life changing.
Hey kids.... as school starts and you go to the cafeteria for lunch and see someone sitting alone...
Sit with them...
Talk to them...
Laugh with them...
Introduce them to your friends...
You know, all the things you’d like someone to do for you if you were sitting alone.
