Her demand was blunt: Stay AWAY from Ground Zero.

I sincerely hope the rest of the country understands just how hard it is to be in New York City with this mayor, and especially as we’re approaching this most serious and solemn day for NYC: 9/11.

I can just imagine what this little performative pen prank is meant to do: the mayor can say we are all overreacting and crazy and it was just a pen and it didn’t mean anything. Then he gets to put up smoke and mirrors to hide all the other stuff that’s going on right now in his deranged administration and act the victim for his bots and influencers to magnify.

Meanwhile all of New York City will be reliving that horrible day 25 years ago and mourning all the people we lost, while the Mayor snickers and plays his childish games.

I lost neighbors and relatives of close friends from Rockaway on 9/11 . We had a view of the towers from our porch. Funerals every week for firefighters, first responders, Wall Street workers. Kids we know were left without a parent. Parents we know lost an adult child.

I was in the city that day, 7 months pregnant with twins. It was a day anyone who lived through it will never forget. Everyone was walking around in a daze. We were in disbelief at the beginning but then when reality set in the grieving began, and the anger over the senselessness of it all. I had to put up strong defenses to protect my unborn children.

We deserved this? I would like the person who says that garbage to say it to the face of one of the many people who lost a loved one. It’s a shameful and outrageous thing to say and it cannot be forgotten even with a disingenuous apology.

To everyone who lost a friend or loved one, to @katiewr31413491 and others who suffered trauma witnessing the violence, @PetePanuccio @FDNY @NYPDnews and everyone else who was in any way affected by the horror of that day, my heart goes out to you . I will be attending Memorial services in Rockaway and will be thinking of everyone who was affected by this violence.
