Tbh I genuinely am for being more critical of everything around you, even and especially fiction because of the political state of the world, I just also think that we have a lot more grace for men’s fantasies than we do women’s.
I don’t think nostalgia or a manga being set in the 2000s makes the problematic themes (especially when romanticized) in Dengeki Daisy okay. But I also believe that it’s a bit victim blamey to insinuate that these horrible themes that occur in real life, are because of fiction.
The conversation happening around this manga’s adaption is so tone deaf too. It’s like “if you don’t like the themes of the manga, you’re an anime tourist and you’re weak” and “if you like this manga, you’re a bad person and are the reason why pedo’s SA children” like
idk why there’s always fighting in otometwt 😭 WE’RE LITERALLY PLAYING GAMES ABOUT DATING FICTIONAL MEN !!! MOST OF THEM ARE FUCKING INSANE !!!!! WHY ARE WE FIGHTING !!! WE’RE ALL CRINGE FREAKS !!!!!! WHO GIVES A FUCK !!!!!!!!!
i have otome game burnout sooo bad rn. i can only play 10-15 mins before moving to something else 😭 gotta push my way through tho cause i have nearly 50 games in my backlog and some of them are super anticipated…
I’m so tired of people declaring perfectly normal literary techniques “bad writing”. 1st person pov isn’t bad. Dual pov isn’t bad. Prologues aren’t bad. Dream sequences aren’t bad. These are all tools. People need to stop confusing personal preferences with objective critique
Hot take - all otome games should give their LIs birthdays, unless they were born with the creation of their world and are literal gods...there is no reason I shouldn't be able to celebrate their special days!
hope the otome community's understanding as not everybody can afford a console and many games, those are a privilege and not many people can afford them
the amount of what others have played doesnt define them
