Our #WCWtoday is Tina QueenTite Opaleke @queentite an author, disability advocate, and the co-founding director of Prosthetics For Foreign Donation @pffdinc
She was born with club feet (feet turned inward) and spent her primary years correcting what she knew as being pigeon-toed
Did you miss a great episode of @CiTRradio's AAP? Well, it's ready for you all to either listen, or download the podcast here: https://t.co/YJT7pU731F . The AC chats w/ @Queen_Tite on why it's important for ppl with disabilities to not only advocate, but to love themselves too!
Our #RoleModelOfTheWeek is @Queen_Tite Opaleke — behavioural therapist, artist, & Black mother. Born with a disability & raising a son who is a child amputee, she faced racism while fighting for her son’s prosthetics. Today, they collect old prosthetics to donate globally.
A new study found that the pulse oximeter, a device routinely used to detect oxygen levels in the blood, may give misleading results for some Black patients and other people of color with dark skin pigment. https://t.co/WYI5tiUn2g
Inspired by the #BlackLivesMatter protests this year, actor @_LeonardRoberts has written about his time on the NBC hit show #Heroes, in which friction with his costar Ali Larter and indifference from producers led him to feel singled out as a Black actor https://t.co/hvAjctptNa
She is also a former international model and spoken word poet who led chants for the Winnipeg Women’s March in Washington 2017, and was awarded The ACA Humanitarian Award 2019.
She is now pursuing her honours BA in behavioural sciences.
If QueenTite can, you can!

An illusion that left her with invisible disability.
She is a mother of two children, including a disabled child amputee. And as a disability justice activist, she ensured that her child was respectfully cast for a prosthesis after being denied due to his color.

the city is threatening legal action against Khaleel Seivwright for building shelters on city property. his solution is to place the shelters on private property from now on. anyone who can help him do this, please step up
Iahnijah Opaleke made the acronym for his charity that donates prosthetics the same as the one for his condition that led to his need for them. @pffdinc is looking for more donations.
