The Rays reaching the ALCS with a $95M payroll (28th in MLB) is remarkable enough. But the story behind it makes this run even more special.
Almost 2 years to the day after Hurricane Milton ripped the roof off Tropicana Field, the Rays spent an entire season playing outdoors at a spring training stadium while the Trop was repaired.
Now, they’re back home and playing in front of their fans in an LCS for the first time in 18 years. Their 2020 ALCS run came at a neutral site, robbing Tampa Bay fans of the chance to experience it in person. This’ll be the first major playoff series at the Trop since 2008. One series win away from the World Series.
Rays fans have waited long enough. They deserve this.
