My friend took his 4-year-old daughter to Urgent Care on a Sunday for a high fever and a bad cough.

They were in the building for 35 minutes. A nurse took her vitals, and a doctor spent 4 minutes looking in her throat before prescribing generic amoxicillin.

The total bill came out to $1,240.

His insurance plan paid $180. The rest went straight to his "in-network deductible."

He called the billing department to ask how 4 minutes with a doctor costs $1,060 out of pocket.

The representative said: "That’s the pre-negotiated rate set by your insurer."

We built a healthcare system where paying $500 a month for coverage doesn't cover medical care…… it just buys you the right to be charged thousands for a 5-minute visit.

This is my older brother, Mark.

A few years ago, I got a call from a hospital that I need to come quickly. Mark had a massive infection and was not expected to live through the night.
I got to the hospital, and the man at the front desk saw I was distraught. He told me to pray. I told him it sounded like it was too late. He said “It’s never too late, pray, he will be ok”.
I hadn’t prayed the rosary except for a couple times up until that point. But I decided to start. It was a 30 minute drive to/from the hospital. I prayed both ways.
One day at a time. Each day, my brother was hanging on by a thread, but he was hanging on.
Later, I added on the Divine Mercy Prayer. My brother woke up and improved. Then moved to extended care out of critical care.
I kept praying.
Then he went to rehab, where they said he’d never leave.
I kept praying.
My brother had skin grafts. Operation after operation.
But he recovered and is living independently again. He beat the odds & everything the doctors said.
That man at the hospital was right.
Pray.
And I’ve never stopped since.🙏🏻

One of the executives in attendance was Johnny Morris, the billionaire founder of Bass Pro Shops.
