nihil novum populum
I keep thinking about it and these are two facts that I can't get around.
1. Based on exit polling, the people who voted for Trump were massively misinformed, objectively speaking.
2. There is a massive right-wing media which disseminates this misinformation. It's not just Fox News.
3. Due to a combination of factors, the people who vote for Trump tend to silo themselves off from any contradictory information.
I don't know how we get around this problem, but blaming it on "Democratic messaging" is just silly. Messaging doesn't matter if the people who are voting never hear that message, and the Democrats can't force them to hear it.
There's an unspoken thing underpinning all this "economic anxiety" shit and it's "these white voters couldn't possibly want what they voted for. Must be something else."
And I can't have a conversation with people who can't confront the truth. Waste of time.
I think what will be most annoying to me is the scrambling to find some other reason than racism and misogyny to explain this. I’m as astute as anyone and I refuse to allow that to be glossed over. I will stand on this for the rest of my life.
Since I can’t tell which is which, it’s all of you. Prove me wrong. Or don’t. I’ve lost all interest in you as a species. And there wasn’t that much to begin with.
I live in WV and the state has been showered with funding and there are factories popping up everywhere and the state has 1b surplus and dems defended pensions and black lung funding and they voted 70% for Trump so shut the fuck up
The ramifications of this election go well beyond what Trump will do. Rejecting a Black woman candidate and having Latino men and women, along with a majority of white women rejecting her, is going to destroy any trust
To all my Black folks on here and beyond. Do not sign up for this and Do not attend. This is not our problem to fix it’s their problem now. We Black women have done everything we possibly could. The onus is on them now not us.
Don’t tell Black people how to process this Election. Nobody on earth shares the experience of the Black American. We have historically led the fight for civil rights and equality and are deserted and left behind in return. Let us be.
