Every other billboard in Bengaluru is a 10-minute delivery app, so it’s nice to finally see this banger for a company that makes steel, power equipment and aircraft parts
Congrats @zetwerk on listing, this one’s up outside @AccelIndia's office in Koramangala
IIT Madras founders are winning!
love this new tradition of celebrating IPOs with billboards
spotted this outside the @AccelIndia office in Koramangala
there’s something refreshing about seeing startup success stories celebrated on the streets, and not just on LinkedIn
Congrats @zetwerk on your IPO today
I’ve got a lot of respect for Frido. Genuinely impressive speed of product development. Clear ambition to make sophisticated, functional products more accessible. Very much the kind of Indian company we should all be rooting for.
While they’re doing the difficult part of consumer product dev well, can’t help but feel that the brand is potentially doing a disservice to the easier part, the product's aesthetic desirability. This one for eg. I wonder how many people like me admire the products but hesitate at the prospect of living with such prominent branding.
Frido is optimising for a particular stage of brand-building. Makes sense. Visible logos occupying important real estate on the product offer obvious advantages. Its a rational decision for customer acquisition rn that becomes less rational as the brand matures. The design choices that help a brand get discovered aren't necessarily the ones that help it become desirable.
I'd love to see brands like Frido gradually move towards recognition through design rather than relying so heavily on recognition through typography. There's a generation of Indian companies becoming genuinely competent at engineering, manufacturing, product dev, distribution & marketing. There's also an increasingly valuable consumer who wants all that ingenuity without quite so much advertising on the things they own. The next great leap in Indian consumer brands has to be in product desirability.
