The bustling Market Place, Whitby dates back to the mid 17th century with the Old Town Hall being built in 1788 by Nathaniel Cholmley. The area once held large vats for the storage of urine. The urine was used in the processing of alum which was mined locally.

Oak was a charitable collaboration between a group of schools and trusts to support teachers and children through an emergency. The video lessons and support materials were seen to be useful by many and generated a lot of goodwill.
