@SpeakerJohnson Base the continuing resolution on the 2024 budget, the last budget that we had. With no new spending allocations it can pass with a simple majority in the Senate. With this plan you only have to work 3 or 4 days a year. And the government stays open forever. At 2024 spending!
@SpeakerJohnson Well, Mr Speaker, since You want to just use continuing resolutions in stead of writing a budget...here is a plan to reopen the government. Pass a twelve month cr. Then you can adjourn Congress until September 2026. Then do it again next year.
@MikeJohnson No Mr. Speaker, You have chosen to not do your job.
We, the People, were supposed to have a budget before September 30 of last year. You kept asking for more time. And thanks to the Democrats in Congress you have gotten an extra 12 months and you still have not done your job!
@SpeakerJohnson No Mr. Speaker, You are required to reopen the government. Just like You are required to get us, the People, a budget before September 30, 2024. If You had done your job, the government would not have shut down. So, either get the budget done, or resign from your seat.
@EricLDaugh Well that's a great plan. A clean continuing resolution with caveat that if the budget is not passed within seven weeks, the House and Senate leadership will vacate their seats. They have had more than a year to get this done. We, the People, should not tolerate this!
@SenateGOP The budget was due by September 30 of 2024. We have given the Speaker, and the Republican controlled House, more than a year a they still have not done their job. In private industry they all would have been fired before the end of last year.
@SenateGOP Well maybe, if the House of Representatives got us a budget, the government wouldn't be shut down. And Speaker Johnson has been promising the People that if we just give him a little more time...
@SenRickScott Did I just hear you suggest passing a budget?
We, the People, are still waiting for a 2025 budget.
I suggest that in your Bill we further claw back all congressional spending done so far without the budget.
We could get back trillions of dollars.
@HouseGOP@RepLisaMcClain The way to end the government shutdown is simple...pass a budget.
It was due no later than September 30...of 2024.
Speaker Johnson keeps demanding extensions, and promising to get the job done.
Seems like the budget will never be done!
Republican incompetence
@SpeakerJohnson@SenSchumer Here's an idea, speaker Johnson, pass a budget and you don't need a continuing resolution. Any 8th grade civics student knows that. Apparently you don't.
@SteveScalise By saying you did your job, do you mean you passed a budget? Because that is your job.
Or you think that the job is passing a continuing resolution and not a budget? So you're ignorant.
Or a continuing resolution is the best you can do. So you're incompetent.
@SenJohnKennedy So Senator, what makes you think that another continuing resolution is going to help. It really looks like the people in charge of the House and the Senate are incompetent. And we the People will never get a budget, just more empty promises.
@SenJohnKennedy Speaker Johnson then promised we would have a budget no later than March 2025. With promises from Senator Thune and Speaker Johnson that the budget would definitely be done by September 2025, the Democrats in the Senate helped pass another continuing resolution.
