The racist, dehumanising remarks against @KMbappe by Paraguayan Sen. Celeste Amarilla are despicable, regrettably not isolated.
States & sports organisations must prevent acts of racism & discrimination, and ensure independent and effective accountability. Social media must also prevent and address racial discrimination on their platforms.

Southern Baptist pastor David Hughey stepped down as lead pastor of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock after his wife, Louanne, finalized their divorce in June following nearly 40 years of marriage. Although the Southern Baptist Convention has no formal rule automatically disqualifying a divorced pastor from ministry, Hughey said he chose to resign because he did not want his personal situation to become a distraction to the church.
Court records show Louanne Hughey filed for divorce in February and cited “general indignities,” alleging humiliation, intimidation, derogatory words, and emotional neglect. David Hughey denied those claims, saying the couple only experienced normal marital disagreements. Despite disputing the allegations, he said reconciliation was no longer possible and believed stepping down was the most loving and God-honoring decision for the church.
In statements to his congregation and local media, Hughey emphasized that no staff member or church leader forced him to resign. Instead, he said the decision came after much prayer and a desire to protect the church’s witness and ministry. He remains at the church in a different role related to pastoral care and ministry support. The case highlights how seriously many Christian leaders view marriage, personal testimony, and the responsibility to preserve the spiritual health and public witness of the church.

There's a TV show in Japan
that has run for over 30 years.
The premise: a parent sends
their two or three-year-old child
on an errand. Alone.
To the store. To buy tofu.
Across actual streets.
A camera crew follows secretly,
hidden, never helping,
as a tiny human in a backpack
completes a task most countries
wouldn't let a child attempt.
The kid cries. The kid forgets.
The kid gets distracted by a dog.
And then the kid comes home,
holding the tofu, glowing.
It's the most-watched thing
of its kind in the country.
Americans who discover it
cannot believe it's legal.
In Japan, we cannot believe
it's remarkable.

In 2017, a homeless man wandering the streets of the United States stumbled upon a $10,000 check. Instead of keeping it, he decided to return it to its rightful owner. The check had a phone number written on it, so he used a phone booth to call. To his surprise, the check belonged to a prominent businesswoman. He informed her about the check and arranged for her to retrieve it. When they met, she was deeply moved by his honesty upon learning he was homeless. To show her gratitude, she bought him an apartment and enrolled him in a real estate school. After he graduated, she offered him a position as the administrator of one of her foundations.

There's a price to pay if you want to make the NBA.
To Bulls guard Yuki Kawamura, that price is $5 million.
Kawamura is in his 2nd year now in the NBA and is on a two-way contract making $354,794 (per spotrac).
During his last season in the Japan B-League, Kawamura was making around $2.5 million.
That figure is already seven times less than what he's currently making.
If he gave up on his NBA dream and chased the bag, he'd make around $5 million.
Former NBA player Yuta Watanabe currently plays in the Japan B League with the Chiba Jets and is expected to make $5 million after taxes.
In NBA contracts, that figure would command an average annual salary of $12 million before taxes, per @BasketNews_com.
It's not every day you see someone leave $5 million on the table.
But Yuki Kawamura is living proof that some dreams simply don't have a price tag 🏷️
