ICYMI: Scientists, data professionals & concerned groups gathered at the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) earlier this morning to call against the deactivation of unregistered SIMs.
Today is the deadline for SIM registration in the PH.

Speakers emphasized the mass deactivation of SIM cards, with 64 million SIM users losing access to communication and basic public cell/mobile services such as Internet connectivity, social media, schooling & news.

The protestors called out the gov't for not heeding their calls, citing issues revolving around the law itself. These include loss of access to communication, risks to digital security, and press freedom.
Around 64 million SIM users remain unregistered to this day.
