The AZLP, like many of you, woke up today to the news of hot conflict again in Gaza. We hope for the safety of all civilians both Israeli and Palestinian. As the war drums beat again, we once again find ourselves calling for de-escalation and non-intervention from the United States.

There are no clean hands in this conflict, including those of Israel. 75 years of hegemonic behavior toward the Arab world has come home to roost. This is not to pretend that there was peace in the region before Israel. The Middle East has been in a state of perpetual war for the better part of 3,000 years.

We are reminded of a quote from Dr. Ron Paul, “I think (Ronald) Reagan was right. We don’t understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics.”

We call upon the United States to change course, to end our entangling alliances in the Middle East and to withdraw our forces in entirety and perpetuity from the region. To honor the intention of America in our foreign policy and be friendly toward all nations and ally to none. In order to achieve this, we must end our view of America as the policemen of the world, and allow for the autonomous governance of each region in the world.

We call for an end to all foreign aide, and all military intervention against nations against with which we do not have a congressional declaration of war. Bloodshed begets bloodshed.
