Happy for the memories I've made, happy for the people I've met (and hope to keep in touch), sad for the atrociously wasted potential. Time to find a new game I suppose...
It's crazy how out of touch they are with everything.
- No idea how to actually do good marketing? Thinking you need "High end CG trailers"? Just give me a shit 15-30 second ad about the game, most people don't need some crazy cinematic BS to rope me into trying a card game...
What a shame; there were so many different things I wanted to do with this game this year. I'll probably still finish the LoR competitive players analysis I've been working on, but damn if this doesn't take the wind out of my sails
A message from Legends of Runeterra’s Executive Producer and Game Director regarding recent company changes and the future of LoR. https://t.co/hDzeAPtS9y
So after a few weeks, the community figured out the decks that beat G.E.M.:
1: Decks in the only region with hate cards (but you can only fit two in a lineup)
2: Aatrox Reaver's Row, a sub 50% winrate deck
3: Maybe LeBlanc ED
.
.
That's it
Thank god this deck wasn't in worlds
@AikadoLoR You can naively estimate the "true" winrate as (winrate-playrate*.5)/(1-playrate) (all values as decimals). This gives a 1% increase at the following combinations:
wr, pr
55%, 16.7%
60%, 9.1%
65%, 6.3%
70%, 4.7%
@thecupismine@AikadoLoR That's fair. This deck just holds a special place in my heart as the first time I built a meta deck; unlike the worlds players, I was able to solely play this one deck and get really deep into the idiosyncrasies
Fun fact about 2023 LoR Worlds: I believe this is a new record for the most identical lineups, with 8 playing Jax/Ornn, Morde/Morg, and Norra/ED; just beating out EMEA's HotH Open (Eve/Diana, Reaver's CS, Reaver's Xolaani) and FV:O WQO (Formidables, Nilah/Janna, Scouts) on 7 each
@BanditKeithLoR I'd prob cut Tianna though lol. She was originally there as early bird tech and it *maybe* worked that way once. She def wasn't bad and got some funny kills with rallying when they tap or looping with morde, but the lines are weird and there's prob a more consistent alternative
@BanditKeithLoR You can also just outlast their deathless sometimes. As long as you chump block enough to stay alive, they'll run out of pings for broadmane and they can't kill their own sai'nen for extra draw; you always have more value in the long term
@BanditKeithLoR I'm also on si tellstones and mark does a lot to outrange their pings. Mageseeker is probably the most important card in the matchup, since you have options with morde, morgana, and ironhound; just gotta find the avenue they're leaving open
