**Breaking News: CHP Air Operations Grounds Fleet Statewide**

There are unconfirmed reports coming from Sacramento this afternoon that The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Air Operations has grounded its entire fleet as of March 24, halting all launches from CHP air bases. There is no current reason given or known for grounding of air ops. I reviewed flight tracking sites and could not find a single CHP Air Asset airborne at the time of this post.

This decision has already led to multiple denials of urgent and emergency service requests across the state. CHP Air Ops is Funded with $100M annually, CHP provides critical aerial law enforcement and Medevac services at no cost to allied agencies and citizens.

Many counties rely on CHP as their primary air unit for rescues, with the Helicopter Rescue Technician Program enhancing local collaboration. The grounding is causing significant concern for emergency response capabilities.

Cell phone footage captured a police pursuit in Newport Beach that ended in gunfire at the pier around 7am
this morning. According to a press release, no one was injured in the incident and the suspect was taken into custody.
