🇺🇸 OC SCANNER 4TH OF JULY SAFETY BRIEF 🇺🇸
ALRIGHT, LISTEN UP. This is your mandatory holiday safety brief. Nobody is released until it’s complete. Yes, that includes you in the back pretending not to listen.
🎯 COMMANDER’S INTENT: Celebrate America’s birthday, enjoy your long weekend, and return with the same number of fingers, vehicles, pets, and outstanding warrants you started with.
⚠️ RISK MITIGATION: Use common sense. If your plan begins with “Hold my beer” or “Hey, watch this”, conduct an immediate risk assessment and select a different course of action.
👥 BATTLE BUDDY SYSTEM: Don’t go full send alone. Know where your people are. Check on your friends. If your battle buddy starts making questionable decisions, intervene before law enforcement becomes part of the chain of command.
🍺 ALCOHOL: Hydrate. Eat food. Have a plan. If you drink, don’t drive. Rideshares exist. Designated drivers exist. Your 2007 Altima is not a tactical vehicle, and the 91 Freeway is not a maneuver corridor.
🧨 FIREWORKS: If it launches flaming projectiles, maybe don’t point it at your neighbor’s roof, a dry hillside, or your own face. Keep water nearby. Your fingers are government-issued equipment. Maintain positive accountability.
🔥 FIRE DISCIPLINE: Southern California is approximately 14 minutes away from becoming a wildfire at any given moment. Don’t be the reason aircraft are conducting water drops at 0200.
🏊 WATER OPERATIONS: Pools, lakes, and oceans do not care how good you think you can swim after six beers. Use the buddy system. Watch the kids. A pool floatie is not a Coast Guard-approved flotation device just because it has an American flag on it.
🐕 PET SECURITY: Secure your animals before fireworks begin. Your dog does not understand that the neighborhood has initiated unrestricted simulated indirect fire.
🚗 VEHICLE OPERATIONS: Buckle up. Slow down. Watch for pedestrians. Assume everyone else on the road has made worse decisions than you. Maintain situational awareness and don’t turn the 405 into Talladega.
🔫 WEAPONS SAFETY: Celebratory gunfire is not a tradition. What goes up comes back down, and gravity has no holiday schedule. Keep firearms secured and make responsible decisions.
📱 PCCs/PCIs: Phone charged. Rideshare app installed. Water available. Fire extinguisher located. Kids accounted for. Pets secured. Battle buddy identified. Exfil plan established.
🚨 FINAL GUIDANCE: Do not add to the population. Do not subtract from the population. Do not end up in the hospital, newspaper, police blotter, or on an OC Scanner post.
END STATE: Everyone survives. Nobody gets arrested. Nobody loses a finger. Nobody sets Orange County on fire. All personnel return from the holiday weekend at 100% accountability.
Celebrate freedom. Make good decisions. Take care of your people.
🇺🇸 DISMISSED.
