I have officially lodged a complaint with Ofcom @Ofcom regarding the Sky Sports @SkyCricket interview with Imran Khan’s sons.

The complaint calls for scrutiny of the programme under the UK broadcasting standards relating to due impartiality, due accuracy and fairness.

Serious and contested allegations concerning Pakistan and its state institutions were broadcast during a major international cricket event. My concern is whether the programme provided adequate context and a fair opportunity for the relevant Pakistani authorities to respond.

This is not about restricting freedom of expression or preventing journalists from conducting interviews. It is about editorial responsibility, accuracy, impartiality and fairness when serious political allegations are broadcast to an international audience.

I have asked Ofcom to independently examine the interview, the questions asked by Michael Atherton, @AthersCricket
the allegations made during the programme and whether Sky Sports provided an appropriate opportunity for the other side to respond.

Let the UK regulator examine the matter and determine whether the required broadcasting standards were followed.
