KHSC is launching a new electronic medical record system this month.
While most community members and patients won’t notice major changes, we ask for your patience as our teams adjust to the new system.
If you have a clinic appointment, please plan for minor delays and refer to the arrival time on your appointment slip.
There may also be potential delays in the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Clinic. For a list of alternative care options, visit https://t.co/ZBjYlwIxxZ
Thank you for your patience!
As of today,
It is illegal to intimidate doctors
It is illegal to intimidate nurses
It is illegal to intimidate patients,
It is illegal to obstruct them from providing care or receiving it.
This law was passed unanimously in the House of Commons, and it comes into force today.
Today I’m remembering the time I was up to my elbows in an emergency and called the evening pharmacist and basically just said “I need protamine for [this patient]!” and hung up and before I knew it she was in the room with it and clinical pharmacists are SO NECESSARY.
Can someone explain how people think their immune system is powerful enough to deal with a virus that has killed over 4.5 million people but not powerful enough to deal with a vaccine that over 3.4 billion people (basically half the world) has already received AND survived?
What keeps us away from the brink that is triage is the number of people who are dying in our ICUs. I have had to show them that though not yet dead they will never get better. I have extinguished their hope. I have had to console their children, and bear their partner’s rage.
Person in Regina hospital. Crying. Dying.
"I should have had my shots. My wife had hers. She kept telling me to get mine. I'm going to die, aren't I?"
He spoke w/ family one last time before going to ICU. He told them he was so sorry.
He died 3 days later, alone.

What women experienced at Western this weekend, while perhaps shocking, is unfortunately not out of the ordinary. How you respond to this event will inform the survivors in your own life about whether you're a safe person to tell about their own experiences. /5
I’m a 4th year Western student and 3 time orientation leader. This entire O-Week was horrific. I helped lead a predominantly female team. There were multiple instances where myself or other sophs were screamed at, pushed, and touched inappropriately by men. 1/10
Around 90% of KHSC health-care workers are #vaccinated against #COVID19. For those who haven’t yet provided proof of vaccination, we are standing with our fellow health-care organizations and announcing a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. MORE: https://t.co/mMconqxj8b
The right to choose is a woman’s right and a woman’s right alone. Every woman in Canada has a right to a safe and legal abortion. It’s time men stop telling other men that it’s ok for them to decide what women can or cannot do with their bodies.
Our #healthcare heroes received some back-up today - #superheroes brought smiles to the faces of our youngest #patients. Staff from @EliteWindowC rappelled down the building to not only fight grime, but bring much needed fun & distraction to patients, family & staff. #ygk
1959: "Red Man Syndrome"

Don't be 1959
Thanks to @DrChelleMD, @TomSequist, @KimberlyBlumen1 and colleagues for writing this

Changing this on every patient profile I come across. I encourage others to do the same. @KingstonHSC

#NewZealand was 1st to stop allowing flights from #India, home of a double mutant variant-B.1.617. #UK, #HongKong & others have now said NO to flights from India. Many frontline Canadian doctors are asking #Trudeau gov't to act now. This is #MustRead https://t.co/CYjH0d0hEd
Another scary day at the hospital: I have more pregnant patients in the ICU than on the labour floor! Please, stay inside and get vaccinated! #COVID#MFM
