Are @TheGPhC and @NPA1921 enabling these practices and this grandstanding? Is it an example of white privilege coupled with self interests? Had it been a pharmacist from an ethnic minority, would the reaction from ‘pharmacy leaders’ be the same?

Some Asda pharmacies are incredibly quiet & low footfall so no surprise they’ll close. The closures panic would only make sense if Hannbeck mentioned how her @AIMpharmacies directors are still BUYING pharmacies. Can’t be that bad if they fork out on more? Funny it’s not mentioned

No one seems to mention how bad an idea it was for @LloydsPharmacy to buy Sainsburys pharmacies in the first place! They couldn’t sell the products Sainsburys sell and the usual loss-leader model of supermarket pharmacies became unsustainable 🙄

Good points. It’s not down to a funding crisis, it’s years of mismanagement, incompetent structures and actively pushing teams to nominate patients to @lloyds_direct. Staffing cut regularly, an awful PMR system rolled out and the patient experience worsened.

The existing ‘manel’ has been around for years. Time for change and diversity reflecting its membership?

@Carolin59482868 @MarinaPurkiss At the end of the month, govt announces concession prices which consider any price hikes. The amount pharmacies get paid applies to the whole month ie whether or not they had cheap stock in before a price hike. So can actually get reimbursed quite a bit more than they paid + fees

@the3emran In the current market, Christie & Co reports, ‘during the first half of 2022, we sold 60 pharmacies with a combined value of £53.69 MILLION.’

That’s about £900,000 per pharmacy, on average.
