Reflecting on the past - embracing the unknown. The leaves turn brown - a new adventure begins. Onwards - the sun on my back - my shadow now leads the way.
That time in 1665 when fishermen off the coast of Stralsund reported "flying ships" fighting one another in the sky...
The weirdest part?
Later that evening multiple witnesses reported a large dark object appearing over the town, a flat plate/disc with a dome or hat-like appearence.
The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin actually mounted an exhibition devoted to it, 'UFO 1665: The Air Battle of Stralsund'
Hey folks, time to go analog before it’s too late. No kidding. Tune in that shortwave radio 7490, 5130 kHz. Free speech media is on the short waves-always has been always will be. We got to fight for free speech-stay analog-stay sane. There’s always more radio to come.📻📻🙏🇺🇸.
Old Hollywood mastered the art of sexual tension, and The Big Sleep (1946) is a prime example.
The bookstore scene between Humphrey Bogart and Dorothy Malone is pure peak flirtation.
“My New Year’s Eve Toast: to all the devils, lusts, passions, greeds, envies, loves, hates, strange desires, enemies ghostly and real, the army of memories, with which I do battle-may they never give me peace”
- Patricia Highsmith

Many fall into the trap of imagining the past as black and white, a drab history of greys and sepia tones, but the reality was considerably more vibrant and colourful! I have cleaned this Autochrome plate from 1908, entitled "Woman of Bethlehem in ancient costume". It was taken in colour by Jules Gervais-Courtellemont 118 years ago, using an early colour glass-plate process. It isn't colourised.
In 1963, Delia Derbyshire hand built the Doctor Who theme using only tape loops, oscillators, filters, and razor blades, long before techno existed.

Ann Green died on 11 April 1518 and rests beneath the oldest legible gravestone in England, at St Peter's Church in Alstonefield, Staffordshire, a quiet rural spot surrounded by upland farms and rolling peaks.
To put her death into context, Henry VIII was just nine years into his reign at the time, with Catherine of Aragon still his queen, Martin Luther had only just sparked the Reformation, Leonardo da Vinci was still alive, and the Americas remained barely known to Europe.
Nothing is known of Ann's life, but the mystery hasn't stopped people leaving flowers at her grave to this day, with an annual festival even held in her memory 🏴
In Irish folklore, the banshee doesn't cause death. She announces it. Her keening was said to warn that someone in the family would soon die. Imagine hearing someone crying outside your window and knowing the sound wasn't meant for you. #WyrdWednesday

“The void, the concept of nothingness, is terrifying to most people. And I get anxiety attacks myself. I know the fear of that void. You have to learn to die before you die. You give up, surrender to the void, to nothingness.”
Harry Dean Stanton.
I’m with Harry on that one.
Ridley Scott’s first film cost £65.
He borrowed the camera.
He cast his brother Tony.
Boy and Bicycle (1965).
John Barry later gave him the music for free.
It already looks like a Ridley Scott film.
Squint and you can see Blade Runner in it.
