To forget you would be to forget ourselves.
Your pain is our pain. Our hearts are always with you, and we will continue to walk beside you.
We will remember. We will bear witness. We will never forget.

It’s a pity you have not realised that I long ago stopped debating migration with you. We stand on opposite sides of this issue, just as we do on your support for Donald Trump and his imperialist, oligarchic agenda. I oppose xenophobia, racism and every form of hatred. That has never changed.
Nor do I regard you as one of those who cannot read. You know perfectly well that the article I shared was written by a journalist, based on interviews with residents who say the price of bread rose from R20 to R30 after migrant-owned spaza shops disappeared from their communities.
I also look forward to the Statistics South Africa report for the end of June. I have little doubt it will reveal that even more people have lost their jobs. When I circulate those figures, will you once again accuse me of hating South Africans?
Instead of engaging with the evidence, critiquing the article, or conducting your own investigation to challenge its conclusions, you have chosen the easier route: accusing me of “hating South Africans.”
Not surprisingly, more than 700 people have already reposted your claim without even reading the article. That is exactly how mob justice works. First comes the slogan, then the crowd, and only afterwards - if ever - the facts. “Elethu yebo! Akasithandi! Uvikela amak…”
Facts become irrelevant once the crowd has found someone to condemn.
It is this same mob mentality that led to innocent people being sjambokked, assaulted and murdered in the xenophobic violence of 2008, when 64 people lost their lives. Sadly, more lives have already been lost in 2026.
Because we have known each other for so long, I will buy you Hugh Masekela’s album with those timeless lyrics:
“Ngobese khawuyeke ukubiza abantu izilwane, nabo ngabantu. Uzovuka nini?”
Those words challenge all of us. The moment we start calling fellow human beings “animals”, we begin to justify treating them as less than human. History has taught us where that road ends.
Reminder that as the world watches the world cup, the actual world is burning.
Gaza is still being wiped out, with even the Egyptian representative who was organizing the watch parties murdered by Israel in what appears to be a sick form of retaliation for the coach of the national team holding up the flag and cause of Palestine at the world cup. Lebanon is still under attack and an expanding occupation. And another round of stupidity and recklessness of the Iran war is now going to lead to even more casualties. All along, so many of the African nations, even if represented on the field, carry the weight of generations of exploitation.
Just be careful not to let the spectacle make you forget the suffering, the silenced, and the systems that keep crushing them.
May Allah keep our hearts awake, our eyes open, and our actions guided. May He protect the innocent and oppressed all around, and make an example of their oppressors. Ameen
That's it. You are under attack so you get to "Crisis Communications Mode." EVERY opportunity must be milked. Every pressure point & threat identified and your overprepare for it. Break teams up according to themes of vulnerability: US & Israel; AU and SADC, Domestic, Economics and Trade...standby mode.
The Belgium-based Hind Rajab Foundation has filed a criminal complaint with prosecutors in Rome against Israeli citizen Arik Ben Asulin, who the group says is currently in Italy.
The foundation alleges he participated in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide while serving in the Israeli military’s 749th Combat Engineering Battalion in Gaza. The complaint cites his alleged role in the destruction of the Netzarim Corridor, Al-Azhar University, and Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood, relying on satellite imagery, U.N. findings, investigative reporting, and Ben Asulin’s own social media posts.
According to Il Fatto Quotidiano, it is one of 90 complaints the foundation has filed in 30 jurisdictions worldwide.
🚨BREAKING: A phone recording between FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Argentina FA boss Claudia Tapia has just leaked
The contents of the recording involve a world cup corruption agreement and have been labeled dangerous to the future of the two
Unless they are prepared to disclose the true sources of their funding and not insult our intelligence with claims that they are sustained by crowdfunding and the sale of T-shirts, we are entitled to conclude that their financial backing comes from elsewhere.
The obvious question is: who is funding them, and to what end?
Until there is full transparency, many will reasonably suspect that these resources are intended to destabilise South Africa, divert attention from the real causes of our socio-economic crisis, and isolate our country both regionally and internationally.
The shady & extraordinary arrogant Tony Leon not only attempted—& failed to capture the Jozi Metro (under Herman Mashaba), he also pulled the same stunt on the Tshwane Metro in 2016/17 under the DA’s Solly Msimanga’s mayorship wherein he convened a meeting to solicit tenders for his PR firm, Resolve Communications. A former Tshwane senior manager has deposed an affidavit to that effect.
The on-form Leon says there’s nothing untoward with unsolicited bids for tenders for what he deems as “strategic communications & crisis management”. He won’t say why he specifically targets DA government deployees with his commercial business proposals.
Msimanga— a blue-blooded DA foot soldier, is feigning ignorance & amnesia about the attempted capture by Leon.
Leon was notably successful with capturing the DA-run City of Cape Town in 2018🤑🤑🤑
Elsewhere, the DA’s Solly Malatsi also sides with Leon, arguing that there’s nothing sinister with him trying to amend the BEE policy pull off the Starlink deal together with Leon…
“So, when Tony [Leon] says he has no influence on the DA, it’s hogwash, it’s not true. He is John Steenhuisen’s Dalai Lama. He takes counsel from him directly…”, fires off Mmusi Maimane.
The usually vociferous DA owner, Helen Zille has gone to ground over the State Capture allegations & ANC-ish behavior by the DA.
I don't follow Gareth so I missed this nonsensical take. You are talking a lot of nonsense Gareth. You can start by spelling my name correctly and then maybe I may tell you what I do. And no, I DO NOT report the news. That is not what I do for a living.
What mealy-mouthed hubris. Whataboutism and constant contradictions.
He can't say what Starlink asked him to do, but then does. They didn't do social media for Starlink, but he isn't sure, maybe they did.
Everyone is crazy, he is not. Everyone is wrong, he is not. Everyone is lying, he is not. Everyone is making up stories, he is not. Everyone is a conspiracy theorist, he is not.
Everyone on Twitter asking questions about Resolve is a loon or a troll.
He is a poor wee victim of it all 🎻
He, of ✨unimpeachable ethics✨, sees nothing wrong with using his political connections to solicit tenders outside proper procedures that must be insulated from politics. He asks politicians to secure those tenders for him, thus urging them to break the law. Glad Msimang and Mashaba said no and refused to be corrupted.
🙄
We will just wait for the Public Protector’s report.
And thank you to South Africa’s PR industry for standing firm on the need to conduct business ethically. It must.
@PigSpotter Good grief man, this is about as racist as I’ve seen on this website.
Congrats: you’re not just behaving like a poes, you have just shown that you are one.
I say this behalf of my many decent Muslim friends and colleagues.
The prompts given to the AI bot accounts are a bit predictable, such as using the racist term "t#wel head", which isn't part of local dialect. But they keep getting better, and the prompts will improve. Then the Overton Window will shift fast thereafter.
This sudden hatred for a Muslim deputy minister is endlessly fascinating. Since when are we these people? And are you telling me you're looking at Zohran Mamdani in New York and also thinking: The Muslims are ruining everything!!!
I say this as a Christian. Please be serious.
