We (me and @njdowdy1) are hiring a graduate student! This is a fast turnaround, so apply this week!
We seek a PhD student to investigate the evolution of acoustic behavior in Lepidoptera within a comparative evolutionary framework...

I also want to highlight the amazing undergraduate co-authors that collected most of these data - we have the best students @MarquetteU especially in @MUArtsSciences!
🐝🐝🐝 I am excited to share more research from my lab @MarquetteU! This work, lead by PhD student Casey Lambert, identifies how #honeybees use physical interactions to coordinate collective behavior, published in @BehavEcol. Let me tell you about it... https://t.co/naLJHoCZEJ...
Overall, this work shows that physical interactions are critical for initiating the fanning response in honey bees. We are still working on what exactly they are doing when they are interacting, but we are excited about where this work will take us!
You don't often see the wings of a Devil's Coach Horse, but I think this one must have blundered into a spider's web. See how it puts its wings away, folding them into the tiny space under the elytra by doing some serious abdominal writhing.
Did you need a bouquet of flowers from the American pika?
During the late summer, pika will begin to gather mouthfuls of vegetation to build “haystacks” for their winter food supply.

Our recently published work in @royalsociety was featured on @SpectrumNews1WI! Thanks @PBoudreauxNewsfor a great story featuring @jlotusnguyen's work on how antibiotics disrupt the collective cooling in honey bee colonies in my research lab @MarquetteUin @MU_BISC
The Cook Lab at Marquette University is helping lead the way in the research of what impacts the behavior of honey bees, which are vital pollinators for a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. https://t.co/EzzPK174Sv
The lindens are flowering and the juneberries are ripe - it’s a great time to be on campus to enjoy the smells and tastes summer has to offer @MarquetteU#summerresearch
