I still cringe when I think about filling out my first W-4 after grad school. I had no idea what I was doing and my HR person told me she couldn’t tell me how to fill it out! Health insurance deductions? What’s that????

Writing this as an Immigrant Daughter felt scary! These are things I’m still working on and it’s not easy. A lot is ingrained in us and we get reminders from many of our cultural systems that we have to sacrifice ourselves for our families and the greater good...
One of the pains of immigration is leaving many friends back home and having to navigate time differences and schedules. I also moved across the country (PA ➡️ WA). Some of my closest friends are on the East Coast and some overseas. But that doesn’t stop us from loving and suppor
If we were all a little more vulnerable with each other as moms, we’d maybe realize that we are not alone. I also know that sometimes this kind of vulnerability has been met with judgment from other moms. We’re all doing the best we can so if you have mixed feelings about tomorro

Are any of these lessons new? No, not exactly. But as one of my favorite former supervisors told me years ago, these things keep coming up because the lesson hasn’t been learned. So here’s what I’
