At least three people have been killed in two separate road accidents that occurred at the same location in Ninguessen village, Kon-Yambetta Subdivision, Mbam-et-Inoubou Division of Cameroon’s Centre Region.

According to Canal 2 International, the first accident occurred at around 11 pm on Friday when a vehicle crashed into the back of a flatbed truck.

About four hours later, another accident occurred at the same spot. A bus travelling from the West Region collided with a taxi coming from Yaoundé.

The three occupants of the taxi reportedly died at the scene, while several passengers on the bus were injured.

The injured passengers were transported to Bafia District Hospital for medical treatment.

Firefighters from Bafia and officers of the motorized road patrol unit responded to the scene following the accidents.

The exact circumstances that led to the two crashes have not yet been established.

A woman popularly known as Christin has been rescued after being kidnapped and held in the bush for nearly seven days in Wum, Menchum Division, in Cameroon’s North West Region.

Reports say she was abducted by her nephew, the son of her sister, and taken into the bush, where she was held while a ransom was demanded for her release.

Cameroon security forces later rescued her following efforts to trace her location.

The nephew was also arrested and is expected to be questioned as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and the motive behind it.

Authorities have not yet released details about the amount of ransom demanded or whether any payment was made.

Christin is expected to receive medical attention before reuniting with her family after spending nearly a week in captivity.

The man beaten to death by a mob in Banguè, Douala V Subdivision, after an alleged robbery attempt on Friday, September 4, has been identified by residents as “L’Arabe.”

He was reportedly one of three men accused of attempting to rob a man of 14 million FCFA shortly after the victim withdrew the money from a bank.

According to residents of Shell Village in Douala, L’Arabe had recently been released from New Bell Prison and was known in the neighbourhood for his alleged involvement in criminal activities.

Some residents also described him as a prominent figure among suspected gang members operating in the area. These claims have not been independently confirmed by the authorities.

The alleged robbery attempt was foiled after residents raised the alarm and confronted the suspects.

L’Arabe was beaten to death at the scene. One of his suspected accomplices was seriously injured and taken to hospital, while the third escaped and remains at large.

Police and gendarmes have opened an investigation into the attempted robbery, the whereabouts of the fugitive suspect and the mob killing.

Cameroon is once again turning to imports to protect households from cooking-gas shortages, with the government seeking 60,000 tonnes of LPG as problems at SCTM expose weaknesses in the country’s supply chain.

But while billions of FCFA continue to go into gas imports and subsidies, a Cameroonian company is building a different model from the ground up.

AMIG COAL, based in Zilli Nkoteng in the Centre Region, produces cooking briquettes from locally sourced sawmill waste and cassava starch. The company says the fuel is made entirely in Cameroon, without imported raw materials, and is priced at roughly the same level as ordinary charcoal while burning longer and producing less smoke.

The broader issue is bigger than one company. Cameroon imported 150,420 tonnes of liquefied butane in 2025 at a cost of about CFA56.2 billion, while the state spent nearly CFA49 billion subsidising domestic gas consumption. Demand continues to rise, yet local LPG production remains far below national needs.
