@bigb99623@goatlave2 That's why I mentioned accounting for different eras. Brees posted a 104.5 rating playing for run-first Marty Schottenheimer not long after Elway's best years. Elway's best with Reeves? 83.4. His best with Shanahan, with 3 HOF weapons, in roughly the same era? 93.0. Brees clears.
You can have your opinions about who the GOAT is, but one fact is undisputable: Drew Brees did more with less than any QB that has ever stepped onto an NFL football field, and I'll die on that hill. Great work on this series, @goatlave2
Drew Brees stats that sound fake but aren’t pt9:
Every other QB in NFL history to throw for over 5k yards in a season has had a pro bowl WR.
Drew Brees threw for 5k yards in 5 seasons without a pro bowl WR and is the only qb to throw for 5k yards without a 1k yard receiver.
@pityinzer@Barkley_Tap Ben had a great career with a great organization and great teams around him. Brees was *clearly* on another level. Appreciate your loyalty though.
@bigb99623@goatlave2 I get what you're saying, but Brees' production was on another level, even accounting for different eras. Elway pulled "decent" rosters in the 80's to the SB in a weak AFC, but got exposed. It wasn't until he had a HOF WR, TE, & RB that he broke through. Drew had *0* HOF weapons.
@goatlave2@Ronrosco2@Ronrosco2 if you've got a few minutes to spare, check out @goatlave2's series of posts highlighting Brees stats that sound fake but aren't. 🤯
@goatlave2@Ronrosco2 Was going to point that out, but ran out of characters. Plus, of those who left for other teams, they weren't the same playing with other QB's. Ingram had one good year with BAL, but it wasn't as good as his best years with Drew.
@Ronrosco2@goatlave2 All good! Brees made many players household names because he spread the ball around without prejudice. If you were open, he found you. Had a game with 4TD's to 4 different UDFA's. 2 from your list were UDFA's, and Colston was very end of 7th round.

@Ronrosco2@goatlave2 I'm not saying he didn't have good players, but if you compare the number of offensive Pro Bowl, All-Pro, and HOF players Brees played with vs. some of the other all-time greats, Brees had less and still produced as much, or more. And don't even get me started on his defenses 😑
@pityinzer@Barkley_Tap Wins are a team stat. Drew had some of the worst defenses in NFL history, while Ben had some of the best. Ben also had better offensive skill players. 2 are in the HOF; AB would be if he weren't insane. Drew had 0. Drew's production still easily clears Ben. Truly laughable take.
@BattleRapBets They calculate Olave's market value as being the #8 WR in the league, for what it's worth. I like him as being comfortably in the top 15 when healthy.
@TomBradyEgo@Whodatttboii Watch more football, dude.
"In 2025, Juwan Johnson ranked third among all NFL tight ends in receiving yardage with 889 yards and fifth in catches with 77 receptions, showcasing his strong performance compared to his peers."
@BattleRapBets Thanks for the invite, we'll see how the timing lines up. I'm a HS FB head coach and fairly busy with summer programs, so I can't make any promises.
@BattleRapBets At the end of the day, there isn't a popsicle's chance in hell that Olave gets paid any less than $30M APY in new money, and if the Saints didn't pay him that, there are plenty of teams around the league that would. It's the injury guarantees that really matter. We have the $$$.
@jimmistepanik@SleeperSaints@SaintsLeadSM@NOSaintsMuse@nofnetwork Look at what the salary cap was when MT got paid versus what it is now. Also, the WR position as a whole has advanced into the top 4 premium positions in the league. This is hardly a unique situation.
@BattleRapBets Yes, when they traded for Vele & Polk, it was Olave + Sheed + nobody, and the Saints knew that they weren't going to pay Sheed. They also knew he would likely be a trade asset at the deadline. Neither Vele nor Polk were acquired to be a WR1. Not Olave-related.
@FreakyPeezy Not hating, but AK has spent a lot of time on the sidelines. If he's on the team and healthy, he'll get snaps though, even if Kendre eats some of AK's touches. AK has stated recently that he's on board with timeshare, and I think he knows that's the only way he lasts all season.
