This is not AI. This is a real picture of a Ukranian woman tied to a pole being beaten and humiliated after being tortured by occupation forces possibly from North Ossetia. Occupation depends on systemic violence towards the occupied.
Time in Russian captivity works against human life. Over 90% of released Ukrainian prisoners of war and illegally detained civilians report torture, sexual violence, or other forms of ill-treatment.
On this International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, we insist: as Russia does not show desire for peace, it must be compelled to end its war – through effective sanctions, international pressure, and isolation from global platforms.
⚡ Zelenskyy: Russia launched 1,400 attack drones, almost 1,500 guided aerial bombs, and 19 missiles of various types, including ballistic ones, against Ukraine this week alone.
Today marks the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.
Thousands of Ukrainians are subjected to inhumane treatment in russian captivity.
Those who return change so much that their own families don't always recognize them.
This is what russian captivity looks like🧵
Yesterday, russia killed her.
Maria Chmil, 59. Nikopol.
A civilian. A mother. A grandmother. Murdered on the streets.
This is the terror russia inflicts every single day. Sadly, the world keeps looking away.
Pure hell in Vasylkivka, Dnipropetrovsk region.
russians dropped 12 KAB glide bombs on a market. A fucking market.
A Saturday morning — people just coming out to sell what they have.
Just a regular, everyday market… gone in an instant.
⚡ May 2026 was the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians in four years, according to the UN Human Rights Mission.
At least 274 civilians were killed and 1,763 injured, with Russian missile and aerial bomb attacks on urban areas cited as the main cause.
I want to introduce you to Steve. He’s 83. His wife died a few months ago and he comes to this lodge in Spring Mill, Indiana and draws. He taught art in Terre Haute, IN his whole life. He also did courtroom sketches in court cases. In the comments I’ll share some pics from his sketchbook. He was excited when I said I was going to share his sketches with the world.

Today, the Russians again struck the special territory around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. A “shahed” hit one of the buildings of the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility. An extremely critical infrastructure facility – and an extremely vile Russian strike. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy, and all our services are already working to ensure that each of our partners knows what has happened.
Russia deliberately struck this particular nuclear infrastructure facility. As of now, there are no readings exceeding normal background radiation levels. But there is certainly an increase in Russia’s brazenness, which long ago went off the charts. Ukrainian first responders extinguished the fire at this facility after the strike. And real new steps by the world are needed so that the Russians feel that this terrorist war of theirs is a blow to Russia itself.
Last night, there were also Russian strikes on other civilian facilities in 13 of our regions. In total, over the course of this past week, Russia launched 88 missiles, more than 3,250 attack drones, and around 1,800 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine. Pressure on Russia must be increased. Thank you to everyone who’s helping!
This is the story of two young men from the Kyiv region, abducted by russian forces in 2022.
Oleksii was 19, Oleksandr was 21. They had never known each other.
They lived about 80 km apart in Kyiv region. Both were abducted during the occupation.

This is what the Zolochiv community in Ukraine's Kharkiv region looks like today.
Due to its proximity to the border with Russia, civilians here have endured constant Russian attacks since the first day of the full-scale invasion. Russian forces regularly strike the area with artillery, kamikaze drones and guided aerial bombs, targeting homes and civilian infrastructure.
Russia will not stop on its own. It must be stopped.
