Looks like something about Argentina broke against Egypt. They are so scared to even attack now. Attack, midfield and defence all poor. Switzerland actually are better platformed to win this game.
Lowkey, Argentina is the weakest team in that semi final.
My two teams - Spain and Argentina are not the favorites of their semi final fixtures.
But we’ve got Messi and Yamal. That’s all I am holding on to 🙏
🚨 Jurgen Klopp on Sørloth’s wasted chance:
“This is exactly why it’s not always advisable to play with two strikers. Yes, it can work, and when it works it looks brilliant — but there are moments like this that show the risk.
Strikers, by nature, think about goals first. It’s instinct. When you have two of them, there is always that small competition in their minds — ‘I want to score, I want to be the one.’ It’s completely normal, I understand it, I was around strikers my whole life.
But in that situation, 2 against 1, it has to be a goal. This is something every team in the world trains every single day. If that’s a winger in that position, the first thought is usually the pass. That’s the difference.
And look, I also understand the other side — when you have someone like Haaland in your team, of course you want to work for him, you want to score yourself, you want to be part of it. That’s football, that’s emotion.
But chances like this, in a knockout game, you don’t joke with them. You simply cannot.
Imagine Norway go 2–0 up in that moment — the whole game changes. The confidence, the belief, the energy… it explodes. And suddenly England are in real trouble, maybe even questioning everything they planned.
These are the moments that decide big matches. Not tactics on the board — decisions in seconds on the pitch.”
With the performances i have seen at this World Cup Argentina doesn’t deserve to play in the semi finals not to talk of winning it.
The team is just Messi and inshaAllah at this World Cup. Nobody else in the team is stepping up. All ball to a 39 year old. Una wan k!ll ham???
I don’t see them progressing and if they do they aren’t beating England.
I’m so disappointed!
The biggest issue for Argentina remains the sheer lack of difference makers going forward.
They’ve gone back to being as dependant on Messi than ever. This was not the case in 2022.
Argentina better pray either Switzerland or England eliminates them because Scaloni against Deschamps or De La Fuente might be worse than 2018 World Cup final
I don’t understand this game plan from Scaloni score a goal and then sit back when you easily have the quality to pin Switzerland into their own half and even score a 2nd or a 3rd and finish the game
Or here’s a bright idea
Maybe don’t dive when your team clearly has momentum and you’ve just scored against a very clearly tired and old Argentina side? How about that? Or the referee should allow anything because it’s against Argentina.
