50% of staff at Bandcamp laid off today, including many of the editorial team… which I find so sad.
It’s a platform that has been built on embracing & supporting independent artists & labels, and shouting about niche genres that you don’t hear about anywhere else…
And in a time where everything is becoming even more algorithmic & AI driven, it’s so important we have writers, curators and music diggers.
If we’re just going to get served music by a computer everywhere we look, honestly… what’s the point.
Music is all about human connection and sharing. We are losing that day-by-day.
