In 2007, Flyers took Mario Kempe at 122. Jamie Benn went to Dallas at 129. They took Kevin Marshall at 41 and PK Subban went to the Habs at 43. Flyers could have walked out of that draft with JVR, Hartnell, Timonen, Subban and Benn.
@charlieo_conn It feels like the issue is Flyers have playmaking point guards and possession ball-movers, but no pure half-court traffic scorers/shooters. Foerster seemed like one of those guys. High-possession players are creating good scenarios, but it isn't paying off.
@ADiMarco25 Should include the $8m+Frost RFA contract raise savings next year. Cap space for a spendy offseason seems like the primary driver of the moves.
We will see how this develops throughout the next day or so, but hearing this morning that Torey Krug is leaning towards not waiving his no-trade clause.
Tortorella famously said, "I think most analytics are trash. I believe in the eye test and the stomach." The biggest question Flyers face is how Briere evaluates talent.
Being a former player or former Flyer doesn't bother me when it comes to management. Chuck Fletcher was neither. It's way more concerning that "eye-test" Tortorella has significant personnel say.
Hayes today: "I'm never gonna say there's a benefit to being benched. I’m sorry. I don't think I should have been benched, but it's not my decision. He's a coach. I'm a player. He makes the lineup, he wants the best team on the ice to ultimately win, & that's what he went with."
"You can boo us, you can talk s--- about us, I will back those guys because they are trying.
"I don't give a s--- what people think about out here."
John Tortorella vehemently defended his team's effort after a 5-1 loss. https://t.co/u4VcpNxmEY
