The larger places I have worked in have had more of both the positive and negative aspects of group subcultures.

May reduce experiences of bullying, 'contagion', 'deviance training', though Clough argues one child can have a bigger impact in a small group. Disadvantage of loss of group, difficultyproviding on-site specialist services.

Suggests that as services on this scale have limited power to offer more than care and accommodation.

Clough, Bullock, Ward said not much evidence, esp. about increasing number of very small services. Prioritising family/community involvement makes small local services inevitable.
