I can name lots of things that are backwards in America compared to Europe but AC is something every European should think about. Unless they wanna not sleep or see their grandparents die earlier than expected.
I can’t get enough of the “Euro” vs. “American” war during this world cup. It’s so friggin funny I’m just gonna help and moderate whenever I can but aside from that I’ll eat popcorn and watch.
Free refills are def not a thing. But also probably causing less obesity. Bc in the end it’s the sugary sodas that get ya, right?
ACs? — Europe has so much to learn…
One thing missing is the insane difference of gas stations and their pricing. (The US is so much more expensive for groceries and in supermarkets in general).
BUT GAS STATIONS are actually a place you wanna hang out. The coffee costs 4x more in e.g. Germany, the restrooms cost at least a dollar each time you go. There is no selection or deals on other products…
I hate every stop in Europe, I love every stop here. my fave US thing fo sho!
I was being made fun of for travelling with hand luggage only and especially for my “Boy Scout” backpack instead of any suitcase. That’s the German way. When my dad and I did a roadtrip from New Orleans to Detroit last year we stayed at the cheapest places possible and when someone asked why he said “all we need is a shower and hopefully some coffee in the morning” 🤷🏼♂️
I totally get that. The detroit area was shocking. Lots of the streets of Philadelphia where I spent quite some time were so ugly and full of junkies and just saaaaaad as hell.
And of lot of the driving is a whole lotta nothingness too. Just a straight road with a gas station and a fast food chain every couple of miles… in Europe there is always something new around the corner. Well, our infrastructure is around 2000 years old. This here is maybe 300 years old 😂
@FreddyLA7 Oh lawd! Lived here since 5 years and I’ve eaten many tacos but only one time at Taco Bell. I miss ‘German’ kebabs so much. And there is no chain for it. At least no known one. That’s kinda how your situation with taco and America feels.
@alexjmingolla@FreddyLA7 It’s funny bc it’s the complete opposite! We (europeans especially Germans) walk everywhere and we don’t care. I got mugged in Medellin and got in very dangerous situations in New Orleans bc it’s just normal to us. Both on d murder capitol of the world. We can’t help it 😬
@fiago7 Oh and I will never forget that place here that I walked into by coincidence on the road to Vegas in 2017. When I read “Fatburger” I said to my friend: ‘this sounds so American, we gotta try!’ And it was fire.

@fiago7 But generally speaking it’s always amazing to walk into as small town (Non-franchise!) burger joint. Just check google and see where the locals go. Or simply which place has been around forever.
As a German living in the US I’d say for the everyday on the road option “Five Guys”, for me as a local option where I live it’s the cheeseburger at “Finn McCools Irish Pub” in New Orleans (great place to watch soccer by the way.) For the exquisite/ fancy option it’s “Houston’s”, a smaller fine dining chain with a couple of locations all over the US.
