@pinkflufffff @coombluc @shalomunspace89 That isn’t making it about men again, men are literally the group being proposed for restriction. And saying men have no legitimate safety concerns because a woman is only a hypothetical threat doesn’t make those concerns illegitimate.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@pinkflufffff @coombluc @shalomunspace89 I understand women can feel unsafe around men, and I’m not dismissing that. My point was the proposal: putting men under a curfew because some women feel unsafe. If we’re discussing public safety, it’s reasonable to question whether restricting an entire sex is justified.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@pinkflufffff @coombluc @shalomunspace89 You can acknowledge women’s safety concerns without pretending men don’t have legitimate reasons to be vigilant too.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@pinkflufffff @coombluc @shalomunspace89 I’m not trying to make women seem like the danger. Your concern about men doesn’t make men’s concerns irrelevant. Even if men are statistically more likely to commit violent crimes, that doesn’t mean every man is dangerous or women are incapable of being dangerous.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@pinkflufffff @coombluc @shalomunspace89 Men can be victims too, and nobody gets to decide that their fear is irrelevant simply because the person they fear might be a woman. You can’t demand that men’s safety concerns be taken seriously while laughing at theirs.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@pinkflufffff @coombluc @shalomunspace89 That’s exactly the problem with your argument. You’re basically saying men’s fear doesn’t matter because women are afraid of men. If the point is safety, then it should apply to everyone.

Yeah you were raised in an abusive home therefore you are drawn to abusive people and you can’t leave your abusive partner. But you were also raised in a poverty stricken household but you don’t do broke boys.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@pinkflufffff @coombluc @shalomunspace89 A woman can also commit a robbery or attack someone. The point is to be prepared for danger, not to assume every woman is a threat.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@pinkflufffff @coombluc @shalomunspace89 No, that’s not what I’m implying. I’m saying the whole point of being vigilant is that you don’t know who the threat might be. If you’re walking alone at night, you’re not supposed to assume, It must be a man, before deciding whether to be cautious.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@noniokk @theunscaryghost @real_BibiEzeh You can criticize the men who pay for it, but you can’t pretend the women involved have zero responsibility while blaming men for the existence of prostitution. If responsibility goes both ways, then it needs to go both ways.

[P.H.I.L.E.X @philexLA]

@noniokk @theunscaryghost @real_BibiEzeh Exactly, so apply that same logic consistently. If no woman is putting a gun to a man’s head to pay for sex, then no man is putting a gun to a woman’s head to sell it either. Both people are making a choice and both are participating in the transaction.

@noniokk @theunscaryghost @real_BibiEzeh By that logic, you can’t blame men for prostitution when women also make the choice to engage in it. If women stopped offering sex for money, there would be no prostitution either. Responsibility goes both ways, so stop putting all the blame on men.
