We set out in 2013 to create a platform that helps the advisor/RIA community find succession planning options. Despite the bumps and bruises along the way, I believe we have accomplished that mission.
Over the past 10 years, we've served 11,000+ customers, successfully navigated 4 transactions for the business, and facilitated countless more through our platform. The lessons learned along the way have been invaluable.
In my final sign-off as Co-Founder of Succession Link, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my Co-founders, strategic partners, team members, customers, and the entire SL community.
๐ Celebrating a Decade of Empowering Success! ๐ July was full of growth - 783 new members & 151 listings. But the real highlight? Succession Link's 10-Year Anniversary! ๐ฅณ Here's to a decade of driving innovation in financial advisory. Exciting times ahead! ๐ #SuccessionLink
Culture of innovation: With fewer layers of hierarchy, we fostered a culture of innovation and experimentation. Each team member was encouraged to contribute ideas, challenge the status quo, and explore new solutions. It led to creative problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Increased ownership: In a small team, individuals take on significant responsibilities and have a sense of ownership over their work. This empowerment breeds accountability and fosters a results-oriented mindset. Everyone was motivated to go the extra mile.
Celebrate small wins: In the midst of the grind, it's crucial to acknowledge and celebrate the small victories. Each milestone achieved, every customer acquired, and all feedback received is a step forward on the journey. Embrace those moments and let them fuel your motivation.
Just reflecting on my journey as a bootstrapped founder of a SaaS company, and wow, the lessons learned have been invaluable! From wearing multiple hats to relentless perseverance, here are my top takeaways:
Build a strong support network: Surrounding myself with like-minded individuals was a game-changer. Engaging with other bootstrapped founders, joining communities, and seeking mentorship opened doors to valuable insights, guidance, and collaboration opportunities.
Persevere through challenges: Bootstrapping isn't a walk in the park. There were countless setbacks, rejections, and moments of doubt. But staying resilient and pushing through those tough times made all the difference. Remember, every obstacle is an opportunity for growth.
Scrappiness is key: Limited resources taught me to be resourceful and find creative solutions. We became a master at finding affordable tools, leveraging free resources, and seeking out partnerships that benefited both parties.
