Went to see @tmbg last night for the first time in over 23 years, but had to leave after the first set due to health concerns. Still, it was nice to see them and I have some photos, so unless they do an “unplugged” tour, this is probably gonna be my last TMBG concert experience.
Health and illness are in God’s hands, and His various providences are means of salvation—when we receive both in the spirit of faith. But they can also lead to destruction if we approach them willfully.
The All-Good Lord allows various sorrows, trials, illnesses, and afflictions to come upon a person in this life, all for the cleansing of the soul from sins and to prepare it for eternal life.
When illness afflicts us, we should not grieve that because of pain and wounds we cannot sing psalms with our lips. Sufferings and wounds help to root out passions; likewise, fasting and prostrations are prescribed for the same purpose. And if illnesses, too, uproot these passions, then we have nothing to be concerned about.
Indeed, through bodily illnesses the soul draws nearer to God.
